Happy August! I really slacked on posting in July, but I’m going to try and get back into the groove of scheduling ahead. I hope you had a great July though. Mine was busy, but fun!
Currently: August 2023
Loving: the Barbie movie. I saw it twice, with two different friends, and I cried both times. It’s also really funny and nostalgic. I wouldn’t say it’s a kid’s movie, though some kids might still enjoy it. It is rated PG-13 and geared more toward millennials, or adults that grew up playing Barbie.
Looking Forward To: more Crafternoons. I held one on July 1 where we made clothespin wreaths. Another friend held one this past Saturday and we did our own candles. We’re now planning to do one a month, and I’m so excited. I love doing crafts but I don’t focus well if I’m just on my own.
Starting: to focus on Christmas gifts. I want to utilize deals, as well as spread out the spending, so I try and get things early. I’ve already purchased a few things and it makes me feel good! How early do you start holiday shopping?
Thinking: about all the fun events I have planned in the next few months. I’m one of those people that love to have plans in places because it gives me something to look forward to, and that’s always a good thing for my depression.
Wearing: my bathing suit a lot because it’s been really hot and I’ve been trying to get in the pool as much as possible. Of course, with the heat, comes lots of random storms – so sometimes I’m not as lucky as I’d like to be!

The first Barbie was sold in 1959, so there’s a big pool of Barbie lovers out there for sure. Glad it was such a hit for you

I still need to go see Barbie! I can’t wait! 🙂 I usually start my Christmas shopping around now as well and get it done before October so I can fully enjoy Spooky season and then NOT shop during the holiday craze. That definitely needs to be my plan of attack this year as well as I’m due in October, and I’m not going out to shop with a little one! I hope your shopping goes well 🙂
I am unsure about watching Barbie still! Gabbie saw it and liked it.
Those crafternoons sound so fun! I used to shop for Christmas year round but more and more I find myself waiting until mid-fall to start since our list of who we buy for seems to shrink each winter.
I think we’ll see Barbie in 2 weeks – let the crowds die down a bit lol
We saw Indiana Jones this week and I missed out on Spider Man, which I had really wanted to see in theatres.

Starting to focus on Christmas gifts – wow! I have never been able to accomplish that…the planning and/or shopping ahead for gifts. It seems like a great idea and I have tried more than once but I totally forget about something I have already bought!

We saw The Barbie Movie on Friday night and went with our 12-year-old. I agree, she didn’t really get a lot of it. I would say it’s more of an adult movie and one that I enjoyed way more than I thought I would!
I enjoyed the new Barbie movie a lot too! I love the crafternoon idea! Some of my friends were doing craft nights every couple nights for a while, and everyone just came and did whatever they wanted. But we hung out and talked and ate, and just had a nice time. I think we all need to do another of those. I finally got a copy of Fourth Wing, just need to read it now!
I could use a Crafternoon group – I have lots of ideas, very little follow through!
