Currently: Time to Appreciate, Research, and More!

Posted November 7, 2018 by shooting in Discussion / 34 Comments

I’m definitely sad that October is over – it’s my favorite month after all, but November will bring some fun experiences, namely going back to New York City! I cannot wait, and I’m sure I’ll have lots to share about the trip on the blog when I get back. For now, I’m linking up with Currently courtesy of Anne at In Residence.

It's time for the November Currently: what are you appreciating, researching, and more? Tell me #ontheblog!! Click To Tweet

Appreciating: All the amazing people in my life, from my family, to my friends, to my online friends, to anyone and everyone who visits my blog. I appreciate you all!

Researching: Ideas for my current work in progress. I know a lot of people are doing NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) in November, but I didn’t want to officially sign up as I’m pretty sure this month will be too busy to write 50k words in my novel. However, since so many people are writing this month, I think it will make a motivating time to get back into my book idea. I don’t want to say too much, though if people want to know more in the future, I can always share on the blog. For now, though, I’ll say that it’s YA and it’s called Color-Coded Sickness.

Posting: Ahead! I just finished Blog Ahead last month, and I’m happy to say that I did quite well with writing and scheduling posts for the blog. This is definitely a busy time of the year, so it feels good to have a bit of a cushion.

Getting: As many Christmas gifts as I can. I do like looking at Black Friday sales, but I’m already trying to collect some gifts here and there – for example, I have a gift for my nephew and one for my sister. I still have many others to purchase for though! What are you getting people this year? What’s on your own wish list? I like ideas!

Cooking: Oh gosh, I should be cooking at home more. I really need to get better with that. However, I’ll probably be cooking some fun cookies before I know it – yum yum, right?

Tell me: What are you currently up to? Any fun November plans?

  1. When are you going to NY? I’ll be there around Thanksgiving. I once did NaNoWriMo. It was hard. I wish I had an idea to work on now though!

  2. Yay! Good luck on your book! That sounds pretty good! I’m definitely intrigued. As for Blog Ahead, I love it! I was unable to participate this past round, but Anna is so fun!!! I’m glad you were able to get ahead with your posts. This time of the year is always difficult for blogging. There is so much going on all the time!

  3. I’m so behind on writing and Christmas shopping and pretty much everything you just said. Hahaha. November is a crazy month for me so I doubt I’ll have much of a cushion going into December. I’ll just have to remember to give myself some grace as this year ends. LOL

  4. I bought my first Christmas gifts yesterday. I’d pat myself on the back, but I have a lot more ahead before I can take the time to do that. Here’s to a great holiday season.

  5. Oooh, what a great title – definitely has me intrigued. And I could use some work on blogging ahead… I’m usually quite good about it but am kind of caught up now to where I had planned out posts to. Or maybe with the holiday season this year what I really need to do is just give myself permission to post less often, because hey – it’s supposed to be a fun hobby, after all! 🙂 Thanks for joining in, as always.

  6. I’m horrible about scheduling blog posts ahead. That’s wonderful that you have the busy holiday months scheduled. I have a list of gifts I need to purchase for Christmas, I just haven’t picked up anything yet. Hopefully soon, I don’t like last minute shopping. I envious that the finish shopping in July! Have a great day.

  7. I have no idea about Christmas this year I think it’s going to be rough D: waiting for some sales to start happening soon. I always feel like black friday sales are just the same as the sales leading up to Christmas /shrug

  8. Ooh you are ahead on so many things and I’m envious! I love that you’ve blogged ahead and I also love that you have Christmas gifts purchased already! I need to get on track with all of that!

  9. Yay for blogging ahead! You know… I never ever did that before, but last month I drafted a bunch of my Book Crust posts and it felt so good that I am going to be implementing it more next year. Maybe I’ll get some tags done ahead of time. ?✨

November is wonderful with family and Thanksgiving, and thinking about family as we shop for Christmas. Enjoy your month. ???

  10. “Getting: As many Christmas gifts as I can.” SAME. I always get my shopping completed well before December first because I get way too anxious in crowds. Have a great November!

  11. Yay for a NYC trip, that’s amazing! I hope you’ll have an incredible time there x
I wish you the best of luck for getting back to your book idea – November has this sort of writing frenzy everywhere and it feels great to hop onto that train and just think about our writing again. I hope you’ll have fun with it 🙂

  12. I am not familiar with Blog Ahead but it sounds like a great idea. I have no cushion. I blog and hit publish. Ha! Would be nice to have a few posts written ahead for busy times.
So proud of you to be thinking and working on your book. Anxious to hear more about it. I was going great guns on mine and then wasn’t. If I put it on my to-do list it is more likely to happen. Going to add it for today. You have inspired me.
Are you doing the cookie swap with Stephanie Cox? I need to hunt up a good cookie recipe. Oh, I think I know just the one. Thank you for prompting me to think a minute about that.

  13. Oh a trip to NYC sounds like so much fun. I love it there. I’m still working on this big project at work that was suppose to be finished by now but we have run into so may issues and it looks like it won’t be done this year. Ugh, I just want it to be over with, I want my life back.

Yay for getting so many of your blogs done in advance. That definitely seems like it will make a difference during these holiday months. Kudos on getting a few gifts in advance. I still have a long way to go.(lol) Hugs and Happy Thursday! RO

  15. Good for you for getting ahead with both Christmas and blogging! I’d like to do that too. Your writing project sounds exciting, I can’t wait to hear more!

  16. My currently: trying to make it through this week lol

I’ve had so much going on that I’m barely keeping up with anything these past few weeks. I think it’s getting back to normal now though and I can take a breath.

Go you for getting ahead with all the things!

  17. It is good that you are able to organize your time to get m ore writing done. Congrats on participating in NaNoWriMo. I wish you success in this endeavor

  18. I first heard about Nanowrimo from one of my students (back when I was teaching and not momming! Haha) and it sounds INSANELY difficult to write that much. Good luck with whatever amount you get written, because that book title makes me excited for your book!!!

  19. I need to work more on getting ahead on my blog for a little cushion, especially during this busy time of year. I have started a little Christmas shopping, but I always get behind because my daughter’s birthday is in November and I’m spending most of November shopping and getting things ready for her!

  20. I’m trying to get ahead using the idea of Blog Ahead next month. I’ve also pretty much wrote the rest of my posts for November save one which I’m happy about.
I think I’m just going to write a list of things I pan to give everyone I can and then wait until Cyber Monday to see if I can get a good price on any of them.
I’m finishing off a semester that I’ve been annoyed with for so long. It feels like it is dragging.
Hope yo get a lot done!
