Harry Potter 6 Pushed Back

Posted August 15, 2008 by shooting in Uncategorized / 16 Comments

The sixth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, has been pushed back from a November 21, 2008 release to a July 2009 release.

Details can be found on the Leaky Cauldron.

As a huge Harry Potter fan, I’m really upset about this. I was so excited for the sixth film (it’s my second favorite book in the series) and the fact that it’s being pushed back AT ALL, let alone until next July has me really annoyed….

I suppose I still have Twilight, but damn! This makes me mad.

🙁

What’s your thoughts?!

  1. Nicole: It is sad! I was looking forward to it!
As for books to movies…I don’t really mind when things are different, and overall, I think the Harry Potter movies stay pretty close.

  3. I wouldn’t be as pissed if it was some sort of difficulties where they wouldn’t be ready. They are just money hungry and want to release it when they can make the most money! Lame! They should have decided this a long time ago, before they released the trailer! That’s going to put two years between this one and the last one isn’t it.

  4. I just heard Summit Entertainment is moving the Twilight release date to November 21st, i can’t be positive that it’s true, but how awesome would that be after hearing Harry Potter was pushed back!

  5. i am kinda mad about it but not too much because i love the harry potter books more than the movies–it angers me that they take out a lot of things or change them, i get that sometimes they have to, but still–

  6. Alea: I agree that it’s only maddening because of WHY. If it was a true problem or something, then I’d be okay…but yeah, they want the best time to make the most money and I do agree they should have decided this awhile ago. Seeing the trailer made me excited and now I have to wait longer!!

Kayla: That would be true. I believe Stephenie announced it on her website or something. That makes me a bit happy.

robin-titan: I know what you mean. I just see them as two different things really, b/c books are always better then their movie counterparts (or at least most of the time!), but I’m glad it doesn’t have you too upset! that’s good.

  7. Also, I just like to watch them in the winter months better LOL. I heard this about Twilight too. I think that’s smart of them, they should get the spotlight that was going to be for Harry Potter and shine it on themselves! I think the Nanny Diaries was pushed back into a Summer movie as well, but who really noticed/cared. I think I read an article about it.

  8. Alea: Winter months are good for seeing movies, I think. It’s so cold out and you want to go somewhere and do something fun. I’m glad Twilight was pushed up. They should get as much time as they can now that HP has been changed and I am stoked I get to at LEAST see that one a bit sooner.

  9. I was REALLY excited about Harry Potter, too, so it’s an incredible downer. I can’t believe they pushed it back SO FAR.

BUT, now twilight is coming out three weeks early, and that is pretty nice 🙂

I was really excited about getting to see BOTH so close together, though.

  10. Alea: HAHAH! That’s kind of funny honestly.

Faith: I know, if it wasn’t SO far I wouldn’t mind as much, but I mean…like 7 months? not cool! And i wanted to see both around the same time too, but yay for Twilight!

naida: I’m super stoked for Twilight. from the previews and everything it looks great.
As for HP 7, all i know is they are breaking it into two movies, so they don’t have to cut a ton out, so that’s good!

  11. I’m really angry too, although I never seem to like the movies as much as the books, I still love to see how they adapted the book to movie format.

  12. towerofbooks: me too! i just can’t get over it…I really was so excited to see this one!

Amber: true, most books are better then their movies, but it is still fun. i see them at two seperate things in a way. 🙂
