Glossies Made Me Do It: A New Way to Mail…and a Harry Potter Gift Guide

First Friday of the month and it’s time for Glossies Made Me Do It – where I talk about what magazines have inspired me to do, buy, create, think about. This is the final Glossies post for 2019, and I was thinking about pushing it back to the second Friday of the month in 2020. Any thoughts?

Family Circle and Real Simple Magazine – December 2019

What’s interesting is I actually saw this product in two magazines this month – but it makes sense; it sounds perfect for holiday shipping!

Scotch Flex and Seal Shipping Roll

You can find it on Target’s website but it’s available elsewhere too. Here’s what it says on Target about this new way to mail your items:

Scotch™ Flex & Seal Shipping Roll has a unique three-layer construction making it a durable, water-resistant and cushioned packaging solution. It sticks securely to itself but not your item, just press firmly for a guaranteed seal – no tape needed!

How awesome is that? Plus, it conforms to the shape of your item so you don’t have to worry about whatever your mailing moving around in its package. It’s not going to work for everything you want to mail, but it’s a pretty awesome find that I definitely want to try using in the future. I haven’t gotten any yet, but when I do, I’ll let you know how it works. I figured this was worth sharing with the rest of you though since Tis the Season of Mailing and all that!

Something else that all my December magazines seem to have in common are gift guides…items for kids, for entertainers, for pet lovers, for travelers, and more. I’ve done a couple gift guides already but I figured today was a good time to share my latest  – gifts for the Harry Potter fan! Feel free to check out my two Disney Gift Guides though: Part 1 and Part 2.

  1. That shipping roll sounds awesome! I might have to check that out for when I send out Poshmark packages. What a great idea!! That’s such a great Harry Potter gift list! There’s something there for just about every fan!

  2. I’m going to have to check out that shipping tape. I don’t send things that often but like you said, ‘‘tis the season and I have a few packages I need to get out. Also how cute are the things on your Harry Potter list?! I actually am looking for something for my brothers gf and she’s a huge HP fan. Now I just have to figure out which of these she would like most!

  3. That Harry Potter Light Box is pretty darn awesome. I drew a co-worker’s name for this year’s gift exchange and he’s a fan of Harry Potter. May have to purchase that light box for him.

  4. Since I’ve started reading Harry Potter to Jona he’s gotten really into it, so these look like fun gifts! He might just be getting some Legos and maybe an illustrated edition. 🙂

  5. oh I’ve been in such a HP moment this fall. I’ve always been a big fan but for some reason this year I’ve been loving it more. I want ALL THE THINGS on your post LOL. And I want that new wrapping tape it does duns so fabulous!

  6. You’ve discovered so many unique Harry Potter finds. My daughter would love anything on your gift list. The Scotch flex and seal is an interesting idea. Would like to know how well it works. I spent a small fortune this time last year shipping framed art to my daughter from my mother’s house. One of the pieces was badly damaged in that the painted surface of the canvas board pulled away from the backing of the board. I am not sure how we will fix it. This product might have been just what we needed.

I’m glad you like the gift guide! And yes, it makes me nervous to mail certain things – I always worry something will break in some way!
