I’m A Fan of LGBT Lit…What About You?!

Posted July 13, 2010 by shooting in Uncategorized / 7 Comments

I’m a really big fan of LGBT lit…so I want to know: What books should I be reading? What books are coming out this year or next that I should know about? I’m afraid sometimes they come out and just fly right past me, and that’s not cool!

One of the links on the side is one book that I found last year and really enjoy. I would definitely recommend…it’s a fast, interesting read. In fact, there is even a GREAT interview out right now with the author…from a lady who will hopefully have an LGBT book of her own out in the future. Don’t Miss It! Leave a comment over there, because I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Plus, I’m thinking of making an LGBT Entertainment Blog for Young Adults. I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen, but I’d love to know your thoughts…what should be included, would you follow along, etc. etc.

Also, don’t forget to keep an eye on Kristi’s blog The Story Siren for her LGBT week this coming August. You’ll even get a shot to win David Inside Out and Catherine Ryan Hyde’s upcoming transgender novel Jumpstart the World. I included that book as well so you can check it out and maybe think about pre-ordering if you want too. I have a fun plan for this book this October so keep your eyes peeled!

Now…discuss. I left you with plenty to check out (definitely read/comment on Lee’s interview because I will love you for life if you do) and think about, so now I want to know your thoughts/ideas!

Amazon Associates: If you buy a book from the above links, I will eventually get a small percentage. If you do, thanks for supporting…though you don’t have to buy them from these links, just buy them!

  1. Great interview with the author of David, Inside Out. I like LGBT literature. While not gay myself, I feel it's important that this segment of humanity be represented in literature. I also believe kids with disabilities should be represented in literature as well. Great post.

  2. An LGBT entertainment blog for young adults is a fantastic idea! I love Catherine Ryan Hyde and will put her new book on my must read list.

Read BOY MEETS BOY. It sounds a lot more silly and flamboyant than it really is, I promise. It's a really heartfelt story with no more than a kiss once or twice. The characters were great and I was so glad I gave in and read it finally. It's also by David Levithan who seems to be a mentor for many popular authors and he has released many successful books or co-written them. =]

  4. I only recently got into LGBT YA. I'm not familiar with the latest releases. I've been more-or-less playing catch-up with recommended authors from the past 10 years.

Bob Neihart's Hey Joe is excellent.
Alex Sanchez's Rainbow Boys series is very good. Peter Cameron is in my book queue.

Don't know if it really "counts," but I'm reading Imperial Bedrooms by Bret Easton Ellis now. I'm going to do a review for my blog.
