Very (VERY) Last Minute Gift Ideas

Posted December 23, 2020 by shooting in Discussion / 12 Comments

Tomorrow is somehow already Christmas Eve. Are you still stuck on what to get someone for a present? Since we aren’t seeing most of our friends and family in person this year, it’s even easier to do last minute gifts with subscriptions and e-gift cards and the like! I thought I’d help you out with a list of some awesome options!

Book of the Month: Do you have a reader in your life who wouldn’t mind getting some new books in the mail, but you just aren’t sure what they’d like best?

Book of the Month is a great option, as they have a mix of books to choose from each month – and they can skip if there isn’t anything that strikes their fancy!

Sign them up for 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months!

Pro Tip: Get your first book for only $5 with the code BOOKWISH

If you want to sign up, feel free to use my Book of the Month  affiliate link.

Sugarfina: Sugarfina has some amazing candy, believe me, so if you know anyone with a sweet tooth, this is a great option. It might be too late to buy something for your recipient, but a Candy Drop is even better!

FYI: this is only available in the contiguous 48 states.

You visit the Candy Drop page and choose how you want your candy to be gifted. The amount goes up based on how many candy “pieces” you choose aka plastic boxes with specific candy in them.

The recipient of the Candy Drop will get an email with a message from you, showing them your gift. They will not know the price of the gift, but they can go in and choose the exact candy they want and then voila, it’s mailed to them!

Pro Tip: You can have the Candy Drop sent immediately or on a specific date aka if you order today, you can have the email “arrive” on Christmas Day or whenever you wish!

Masterclass: This is one of those subscriptions that will suit almost anyone! You can pay $180 for an entire year or $15 per month for a year. There are online classes for all sorts of things – led by some top names! Honestly, I’d love to take some of these writing classes.

Just a sample of Masterclass options-

Margaret Atwood Teaches Creative Writing

Gordon Ramsay Teaches Cooking I

Natalie Portman Teaches Acting

Ron Howard Teaches Directing

Neil Gaiman Teaches the Art of Storytelling

Simone Biles Teaches Gymnastics Fundamentals

Bobbi Brown Teaches Makeup and Beauty

Danny Elfman Teaches Music for Film

and so so so much more!

Pro Tip: If you have a family you are gifting to, give them an annual membership. They can share the log in and take all sorts of classes throughout the years, learning from the best! This would be much easier than figuring out individual presents!

Cameo: This is a great gift for pretty much anyone who is a fan of something entertainment related. I could really see teens and young adults being especially thrilled though!

Cameo has all sorts of celebrities – from lesser known names to more famous stars. You get athletes, actors, musicians, etc. Once you’ve found a celebrity you (or your recipient) is a fan of, you can see what their prices are for doing a personalized video message. Obviously the more famous someone is, the higher their prices can go, so don’t break the bank!

My dad was in the hospital this past August (not COVID related) and he happened to be there on his birthday too. I “hired” actor Christian Stolte from the show Chicago Fire to do a birthday/get well soon message. The length of these videos and what they end up doing/saying is up to the celebrity, but I was very happy with Christian’s message. It was different and fun – he even came up with a “get well” song of sorts for my dad. I had the video sent to myself so I could show my dad when he got home – but you can have it sent directly to your recipient if you wish!

I’m sure whoever gets one of these will be playing it over and over!!

Psst…if anyone would like to gift me a Cameo, I will happily choose Adam Pascal or Anthony Rapp from the original production of RENT (my favorite musical).

Pro Tip: Sign up using my affiliate link. You will automatically get a $5 credit for any Cameo worth $10 or more. Once you purchase a Cameo, then I’ll get $5!

Paint the Town: Have a creative friend or family member? Paint the Town lets you set up virtual paint nights – or you can gift just a paint set so an individual can do a specific painting. I love that there are options. I think a virtual paint night would be great fun for a group of friends, but if you don’t know that you’d want to paint with your recipient – then you can always do an individual option.

Pet Portrait Painting Kit– I particularly love this option. You send in a photo of the recipient’s pet and and it will be sketched on a canvas. That canvas, plus other supplies, will be mailed to the recipient to do the painting. This can be part of a virtual paint night, or you can pay $8 per person for recorded/written instructions. The painting kit itself costs $30!

Pro Tip: While a virtual party would be fun, go with an individual kit if you are gifting to one person or gifting to people that don’t know each other. Also, don’t be afraid about painting a canvas – there is a Wine Glass Painting Kit (they can’t ship glassware, so you’d have to add that, but it has all the supplies you need to paint!), and even a Wood Coasters Painting Kit.

Goldbelly: Most of us didn’t do much traveling in 2020. You can help remedy that by giving an e-gift card (or even ordering a specific food item) for your recipient. Goldbelly is a wonderful website that lets people across the United States order food they would otherwise have to travel to get.

For example, when I go to New York City, I have to visit Magnolia Bakery. Their cupcakes are just divine. Well, now you can have them shipped TO you (and I have – for my mom’s birthday one year)!

This would also be a fun way to try a famous food you’ve heard all about, without the stress of traveling to that city!

Pro Tip: For a last minute gift, an e-gift card is probably your best best – and they can choose whatever they want from the website! However, another fun idea is to choose an item that relates to something they enjoy. Example- if the recipient is a fan of the Netflix show Nailed It!, then they know of Jacques Torres, the chocolatier judge. Goldbelly lets you order some of his yummy desserts (and many have free shipping!)

The Flower Letters: The Audrey Rose Letters– The Flower Letters is a brand new subscription where you receive two letters a month – essentially telling you a specific story. Their debut collection is The Audrey Rose Letters. If you order now, check the box that says it’s a Christmas gift. Christmas letters will be sent out the first week of January!

What it includes-

2 letters per months for 12 months
1 postcard is included in every other letter
And a few surprises along the way!

What it’s about-

Our Debut collection takes place during WWII and is centered on one of the most significant days in history: June 6, 1944 . . . D-Day.

Audrey Rose Drollinger meets Corporal Charlie Henderson Burke at a Fourth of July Army Ranger dance in Tullahoma Tennessee. The two soon learn they have a great deal in common: a love for their country, loyalty to the army, and, of course, an immediate attraction to one another.

As their relationship develops through their correspondence, the couple moves closer and closer to one of the most important days of WWII. What neither foresees, however, is the significant role each will play in the day’s events . . . and whether they’ll both make it out alive.

Each letter is professionally designed, illustrated, and packaged with care.

Letters are sent the first and third week of every month.

This would be a really fun gift for readers or historical fiction fans! I would personally love to read this story in the form of two letters a month! You can purchase a year’s subscription – to get all the letters – or you can choose to pay monthly. The yearly subscription is currently on sale, so hurry!!

Pro Tip: If you can afford it, buy the annual subscription so you are one and done. You won’t have to worry about paying every month, and you know the recipient will get all the letters!

Pro Tip #2: If your recipient happens to like the Stalking Jack the Ripper book series, then this would be a fun gift for the fact that the main character in that series is also Audrey Rose.

  1. These are all such great ideas, I think subscriptions make such good gifts. I gifted myself a Libro.fm subscription this year 🙂 Master Class would be such a fun one too!
