Sunday Post: Suicide ARC Auctions!

Sunday Post is hosted by Caffeinated Book Reviewer
Well, I’m back! I really need to try and do these more often; I always love reading them. Anyway, I’m taking part in ARC August so I thought a Sunday Post would be a great way to keep track of all the ARCs that I read in the previous week.
ARC August is hosted by Read.Sleep.Repeat and the idea is to read and review as many of your ARCs in the month of August as you can, which is a great way to help you get ahead! I finished a couple books in the beginning of the month, but since I started them in July, I won’t count those:
Leave Me by Gayle Forman – my Goodreads review
Boyfriend Material by K.A. Mitchell – my Goodreads review
Snow White: A Graphic Novel by Matt Phelan – my Goodreads review
The Book That Matters Most by Ann Hood – my Goodreads review
Four books in the first week is pretty dang good for me! Two of these were August ARCs and two were September ARCs. I think I only have one more to read for August, and then I’ll just be focusing on September. I have the most ARCs for September, so it would be great to get ahead. My Goodreads reviews are my full reviews – so you can read them now, if you want, but they will show up on this blog or my LGBT+ blog eventually!
Along with ARC August, I have started the Leave a Mark Auctions. These books will USUALLY be annotated copies – that means the author not only autographed the book, but they went through and wrote notes throughout. The first book up for auction ends this Monday and it’s only autographed. HOWEVER, I included it because the book is The Martian by Andy Weir, which became the Academy Award Winning Film, so I thought a signed copy of the book would be worthwhile. Plus, the author offered it specifically for the auction, so get to bidding before it ends!
More auctions to come – I’m hoping to keep them ongoing – which means a few auctions every month. I’m planning some fun giveaways too to thank you for following the blog and bidding! So follow and spread the word for more fun giveaways and auctions!
Myself and five other people just saw the film Suicide Squad and we all really liked it! I’ve heard some mixed things, but the majority of comments seem to be pretty positive. I thought it was a really enjoyable film! A bit slow in parts, but overall quite fun! My favorite was always Harley Quinn so it was great seeing her and I think Margot Robbie did a great job. I loved the dynamic between the Suicide Squad members – those were always my favorite parts. I think Jared Leto did well as The Joker. He certainly tried to make it his own, though he came off like a bit of a gangster, mores so than any other Joker I’ve seen. Regardless, it worked okay for me! I’d be excited to see these characters come back for a future film! If you’re going to see the movie, watch the initial credits when Twenty One Pilots’ “Heathens” is playing (love that song) because there is a cool scene afterward.
Besides that, I haven’t been up to too much. Reading a lot and trying to get through The Flash. I’m about four episodes from finishing the second season. The third season starts this fall and Tom Felton will be a regular, so I’m excited for that. I really like the show! It catches my attention and it’s quite funny!
What about you? Do anything fun this past week?

  1. You're off to a great start with ARC August! And I want to see Suicide Squad- it looks like a lot of fun. Also The Flash- I'm behind only a few episodes into S2, I need to get caught up as soon as they hit Netflix.

  2. My hubs and I think the bad S.S. reviews are only because of the hype and maybe people felt let down or something. A movie can be only so good, right? I know I'm going to like it!!! I have no preconceived notions 🙂

Awesome job on ARC August!! Man, you're going to be so far ahead into Sept… I need to do that b/c my Sept ARCs are toppling over (figuratively, of course!)

Question on the auction: do we bid right there in the comments? Thanks!

  3. The Flash is one of my favoritefavoritefavorite shows! I absolutely love all of the characters – from Barry to Caitlin to Cisco. Can't wait for the next season!

    xx

  4. I've only started writing this type of post relatively recently but I have to say they are probably my favourite ones to write and they remind me what I have upcoming to read.

  5. My 15 year old does NOT like Joker at all, but she loves Harley so she is still holding out on seeing the movie. Hopefully soon we will watch it. I am glad you liked it. That Snow White graphic novel sounds awesome!
