Books From My Favorite Genre: Mysteries/Thrillers

I never used to be a big fan of mysteries and thrillers. I think they often freaked me out as a kid, but as I’ve gotten older (and started blogging more), I’ve found that I really love a good mystery novel (whether or not it classifies as a thriller too). If you’re a fan of mysteries, I highly recommend any of the books below (and some are even series!)

Have you read any of these mysteries? Are you a mystery/thriller fan? What are your favorites?

  1. Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge (and the rest of the Helen Grace series) (My review)
  2. Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith (this is the third in the series, so I recommend them all, but I LOVE this one) (my review)
  3. The Darkest Corners by Kara Thomas  (my review)
  4. Without Trace by Simon Booker   (my review)
  5. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco  (my review)
  6. Murder at the House of Rooster Happiness by David Casarett (my review)
  7. As Red as Blood by Salla Simukka  (my review)
  8. A Murder in Time by Julie McElwain (my review)
  9. Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew J. Sullivan (my review)
  10. Kill Game by Cordelia Kingsbridge (and the entire Seven of Spades series) (my review of the whole series)

  1. I enjoy mysteries, although I tend to shy away when they’re full on thrillers. (I’ve read a few thrillers, though.) I’ve been meaning to read A Murder in Time! Great list!

I tend to watch mysteries more than read them and I’ve only really been getting into them over the last year or so. Still I have Stalking Jack The Ripper and Midnight at The Bright Ideas Bookstore on my TBR, so I hope I enjoy them as much as you did!

  3. I used to read a lot of the whodunnit type mysteries as a kid, but like you, I was often freaked out a bit by adult mystery/thriller. So glad I grew out of it. What a world of books I’d be missing out on! I haven’t read any of these except Stalking Jack the Ripper (and sadly, that wasn’t for me and I ended up DNFing it), but I’ve always meant to check out Robert Galbraith’s books! Great picks.

  4. I don’t read that many mystery/thrillers but there are a couple that have stuck with me. Unraveling Oliver by Liz Nugent and Watching You and Then She Was Gone, both by Lisa Jewell. I’ve heard fantastic things about that Kerri Maniscalco series!

  5. This is a genre that I don’t really connect to but WANT to like because I do like creepy – I’m just never surprised by the twists or creeped out enough lol

The one I liked was Last Seen Leaving but it was YA. There are a lot of thrillers in Amazon Prime and KU so I’m planning on testing it out more.

  6. I LOVE a good thriller/ mystery- in fact I’ve been reading more of those, I think, than anything else in the last year or two, seems like. Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore sounds neat- I’ll have to check that one out. 🙂

  7. I love a good thriller or mystery! I haven’t read one for quite a while, so I can’t wait to dig into your list. I’m hoping to do a lot more reading this summer.
