Books From My Favorite Genre: Mysteries/Thrillers
I never used to be a big fan of mysteries and thrillers. I think they often freaked me out as a kid, but as I’ve gotten older (and started blogging more), I’ve found that I really love a good mystery novel (whether or not it classifies as a thriller too). If you’re a fan of mysteries, I highly recommend any of the books below (and some are even series!)
Have you read any of these mysteries? Are you a mystery/thriller fan? What are your favorites?
- Eeny Meeny by M.J. Arlidge (and the rest of the Helen Grace series) (My review)
- Career of Evil by Robert Galbraith (this is the third in the series, so I recommend them all, but I LOVE this one) (my review)
- The Darkest Corners by Kara Thomas (my review)
- Without Trace by Simon Booker (my review)
- Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco (my review)
- Murder at the House of Rooster Happiness by David Casarett (my review)
- As Red as Blood by Salla Simukka (my review)
- A Murder in Time by Julie McElwain (my review)
- Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore by Matthew J. Sullivan (my review)
- Kill Game by Cordelia Kingsbridge (and the entire Seven of Spades series) (my review of the whole series)
Love mysteries and thrillers, so I definitely plan to check these out! Hugs…RO
I LOVE The Strike novels!
I only occasionally dip into the mystery genre, but your list looks super interesting!
My TTT.
I enjoy mysteries, although I tend to shy away when they’re full on thrillers. (I’ve read a few thrillers, though.) I’ve been meaning to read A Murder in Time! Great list!
I do love that genre but haven’t read any of your picks.
I tend to watch mysteries more than read them and I’ve only really been getting into them over the last year or so. Still I have Stalking Jack The Ripper and Midnight at The Bright Ideas Bookstore on my TBR, so I hope I enjoy them as much as you did!
I loved Stalking Jack the Ripper! There’s a few on here I need to check out! Great list!

I’m always on the look out for a good mystery so thanks so much for the recs!! I’ll have to check these out.
I haven’t read any of these, but I am always looking for books to add to my October TBR. I will keep these in mind.
I like that you didn’t choose all the same ones people always mention! Thanks for the ideas!
I used to read a lot of the whodunnit type mysteries as a kid, but like you, I was often freaked out a bit by adult mystery/thriller. So glad I grew out of it. What a world of books I’d be missing out on! I haven’t read any of these except Stalking Jack the Ripper (and sadly, that wasn’t for me and I ended up DNFing it), but I’ve always meant to check out Robert Galbraith’s books! Great picks.
I’m not a huge mystery/thriller fan but I feel like I’ve read a lot of them in the last few months without thinking. They aren’t one I’ll specifically look for, but I seem to stumble across them and end up glad I read it!
I don’t read that many mystery/thrillers but there are a couple that have stuck with me. Unraveling Oliver by Liz Nugent and Watching You and Then She Was Gone, both by Lisa Jewell. I’ve heard fantastic things about that Kerri Maniscalco series!
This is a genre that I don’t really connect to but WANT to like because I do like creepy – I’m just never surprised by the twists or creeped out enough lol
The one I liked was Last Seen Leaving but it was YA. There are a lot of thrillers in Amazon Prime and KU so I’m planning on testing it out more.

I LOVE a good thriller/ mystery- in fact I’ve been reading more of those, I think, than anything else in the last year or two, seems like. Midnight at the Bright Ideas Bookstore sounds neat- I’ll have to check that one out. 🙂
I’ve never been a big thriller kinda girl. Mysteries sometimes. But I really do need to brach out, so I love this list. Will have to add a few to my to read list!
I don’t read a ton of mystery, but Stalking Jack the Ripper is on my TBR list. Glad to see you picked it as a top 10, makes me want to read it more!
Stalking Jack the Ripper is the only one I’ve read so far but I loved it. Thanks for the other recs though. I’m also on the lookout for good thrillers.
I haven’t read any of these!! :O But, lately I’ve been into more mystery type books, I try to not read the same thing!

I’ve been in the mood for some new thrillers this summer, so I’m going to check a few of these out!
I love mysteries and thrillers and these are all new to me. Have to check them out!
I love a good thriller or mystery! I haven’t read one for quite a while, so I can’t wait to dig into your list. I’m hoping to do a lot more reading this summer.
These do look like excellent books.
Galbraith and Maniscalco are fantastic!
I love a good mystery! A Murder in Time has a gorgeous cover.
Lovely list! I don’t often read mysteries and thrillers, but I like to give them a try every now and then so I’ll have to keep your recommendations in mind 🙂
Great list! My dad only reads thrillers, so I’ll have to ask if he has any of these. I might need to borrow them.
