Happy Friday the 13th! I think it’s kind of awesome that we get a Friday the 13th in October. It’s just the perfect time of the year for it. Today, I thought I’d share an adorable picture book called There’s a Monster In Your Book by Tom Fletcher. Instead of a regular review, I am going to share five reasons I think you should read this book with the little ones in your life! Let me know what you think in the comments!
Five Reasons to Read There’s a Monster In Your Book by Tom Fletcher
- It’s Not a Scary Monster!
Nothing about this monster is scary. He’s a cute little blue guy with pink horns. Granted, the book is all about getting the monster out of the book but not because the reader should be frightened; more because monsters shouldn’t be in books, silly!
Β Β Β Β 2. It’s Quick and Easy to Read!
This would make a great book for new readers as there aren’t many words on each page, and it’s a fairly quick book. Of course, it also makes a really fun read aloud too, though I’d stick to one or two kids because of reason number 3!
Β Β Β Β 3. It’s Interactive!
No, the book doesn’t make noises or have buttons to press. However, the book is all about getting that pesky little monster out of the book…so it directs kids to tilt the book, blow away the monster, and even spin the book around and around. There are other directions too but all are silly and fun.
Β Β Β Β 4. The Illustrations are Fun
I love the simple illustrations. The monster is the main focus of most pages, so there aren’t a ton of details. However, since the monster is in the book, there are tears and flipped pages, making it appear a bit 3-D.
Β Β Β Β 5. It’s Written By One of My Favorite People
And finally, the fifth reason you should read this book is because it’s written by Tom Fletcher, singer and guitarist of the UK band McFly, who I’ve loved for years. When I first heard about this book, I was immediately excited that Tom had written it. He’s a father of two, and it’s clear that he knows what kids will find fun and amusing. There’s a Monster In Your Book is one such picture book!

That is absolutely darling. How cute! I love halloween books for kids. My son still has kept all of his halloween books over the other ones. Much cooler.
Love! What a fun way to get kids to interact. Will definitely try it out π
This is a sweet book. I bet it would be helpful to read to a child scared of monsters to let them see monsters aren’t bad. Kinda that cute, not creepy mentality! Thanks for sharing!
This looks so cute! I think my kiddos would love it!

Oh my gosh this book looks like so much fun!
My daughter will love this book! I canβt wait to surprise her with it before Halloween!!!
Aw yay, I really hope she loves it!!
My kids are way into monsters but they’re still pretty scared of 99.9% of the ones they see in Halloween decorations and books. I’m always looking for new books that have not so scary monsters!
Monsters can easily cross from cute to creepy quick! I hope you can find a copy and your kids enjoy it. π
