It’s February and I’m very excited. Not because I have a particular affinity for the month but January just seemed to drag quite a bit for me. Anyway, I’m here today with another Glossies Made Me Do It – where Ashley from Happy.Pretty.Sweet and I share something a magazine has recently made us do – or become interested in! Join us? Glossies Made Me Do It: What would your memoir be titled? #ontheblog #theoprahmagazine Click To Tweet

There were actually a couple things I wanted to do for this month but time – and money – prevented me from doing so for today. I might still feature them later in the month though, so keep an eye out!

However, for today, I’m answering a question – and I want you all to answer it too! In the beginning of every issue of The Oprah Magazine, there is a question that a mix of people who work for the magazine answer. In the February 2018 issue, the question was—

What would be the title of your memoir?

I love this question because this is something that I actually joke about. My answer?

Nursery School Drop Out

Yes, I’m a Nursery School Drop Out and I just find that a hilarious title for a future memoir! I went to nursery school at the age of 3 – it’s kind of like a mix of daycare/pre-school if you’ve never heard of it. Unfortunately, I was left alone in the hallway one morning (I think I couldn’t find my hook for my backpack – that’s what I remember at least) and I guess I was way too young to handle that! haha Don’t worry…I went to pre-school the next year at the age of 4 and I feel like I was in school ever since (it’s been about two years now since I got my master’s so from 4-25 I was in school).

What do you think? Would you read a memoir with that title?

Please answer the question in the comments if you have a possible memoir title.

  1. this is such a great question..hmm im not sure what i’d want my memoir title to be.. “Adventures Of A Wanderer” ha or something like that!

  2. Oh man.. some people just aren’t cut out for school πŸ˜‰ I actually dropped out of daycare because I kept faking sick (at the age of three! ha!) and they’d call my grandma to come get me. My mom was finally like, “You might as well just stay with your grandma. You’re there every day anyway.” Ha.
I think my memoir would be, “Is That Dog Hair in My Coffee?”

haha I like the title for a memoir. That’s hilarious you faked sick to get out of daycare though. You knew what was up!

  3. I have never thought of this! I guess mine would have to do with most of my life I was involved in a very competitive all star cheerleading gym so maybe… “My Athletic Career Peeked in High School”

  4. That’s a cute title! My blog is kinda my memoir so that’s my title! But in the past I had thought of the name Wrestling With Angels.

  5. Oh my gosh I love that title and that story! I would totally read that memoir! My memoir would be called “Caffeinated Unicorn of Excellence.” I read that in a meme somewhere and I’m like, yep, that describes my life!

  6. Poor baby girl! I worked in a school where we had 3 year olds and they were just babies. I can picture you standing in the hall with a backpack as big as you were.

I think my title would be “Dancing as Fast as I Can”. I have always – my adult life anyway – felt like I was going 90 to nothing, dancing as fast as I can trying to get everything done. Kind of sad. Now that I have time to relax, I am still in that keyed up mode and have to work to relax!

Linked up with you this month. Hope to do it again. Great fun.

Thanks for linking, Leslie! I know – I look at kids now and they are so tiny! I like your memoir title. I hope you can learn to relax a bit more though. πŸ™‚

  7. This is an exercise that I give my clients. I encourage them to title their memoir and then decide how it would be written – in chapters, in chronological order,,,etc
My title would be Lost and Found!

  8. Haha, that’s a fantastic name for a memoir! πŸ™‚
I literally have no idea what my memoir would be called. I’ve had such a boring life, so it would probably have to be something to do with me basically having been an old person in spirit, since I was a child πŸ™‚

  9. Lol, I love this and that is an excellent memoir name. I think my memoir title would be β€œNo Chill: Adventures in being chronically busy.” My husband and I always joke that I just can’t relax and not have a project to work on.

  10. Oh I love that question. And that is too funny!! I think mine would be 5 Majors, 1 and a Half Graduate Degrees, 5 Colleges… and I Still Don’t Know What the F I’m Doing With My Life, or, Indecision Doesn’t Pay.
You know, I should totally write that memoir!

Haha I’d read that book! I think I’d relate – except I’d be more like “Kicked Out of Nursery School” because apparently when I was a itty bitty one my parents used hand signals with me to communicate (this was before sign language with babies was common) and then I showed up at pre-school and was signing to all the other kids and getting really ticked off when they didn’t listen to me (haha #girlboss even as a baby!) and the pre-school was all like “She doesn’t play well with others, she can’t come here anymore.” My mom was flabbergasted so she came to the pre-school to see what was going on and there I am trying to herd up all the unruly kids and tell them to “sit, stay” via signing and I was just getting frustrated when they wouldn’t listen! Once they figured out I was the boss of the playground then it was totally fine πŸ˜‰

haha Omg, I love this story. Go you for signing when it wasn’t as “normal” if you will. I have a little niece that knows a couple of signs and it’s adorable. #girlboss as a baby, indeed for you though!!

  12. Ohhhh I don’t even know what mine would be!!! That is too funny about dropping out of nursery school. I am a swimming lesson drop out. I embarrassed my mom so bad when I was 7, that I never went back. Still can’t swim as an adult. So maybe “I Can’t Swim, And Other Life Skills I Didn’t Acquire.”

  13. You bet! I think that title would catch the eye and set a good tone for a memoir I would read. Hmm, now for me… let’s go with ‘My Nonna Might Have Been Right About That’.

  14. I would read that book. I think that is a great title. I’m not sure what I would call mine, maybe the dreams of a chronically over tired mum? I like the idea of this linky too, but I don’t buy glossies any more ?

You can always get them from the library- or read a magazine article online! We’re not picky. πŸ™‚ And I think that memoir title would appeal to a lot of moms!

  15. hahahaha, I love the would-be title of your memoir! (I had to go an extra year because my brother wouldn’t go without me!) I have no idea what the hecks I’d name mine–I’ll have to think about it! It’d have to be something along the lines of always trying to do everything, haha.

  16. I think I would love that title! I had never heard of that term It is a cute story. though I’m sure it was scary for you at that age! Glad that didn’t discourage you from going to school until you got your master πŸ˜‰
