Who Says You Can Only Have One Favorite ?- Movie Edition

People are always asking “what’s your favorite movie?” or “what’s your favorite book?” and we all know questions such as these are really difficult to answer. Why can’t we have a variety of favorites?

I thought I’d make a discussion post, this time about movies, where we can share the many things we love!! I’ll even break things down a bit so you have something to go off of for the comment section! You can use these categories, make up your own, or simply answer the ones you want!

Favorite Musical: RENT. I love that it includes so many of the original Broadway cast.

Favorite Animated Film: One of my all-time favorite animated films is and will always be Aladdin. So many great songs!

Favorite Foreign Film: I really love this French film called (in English) Just a Question of Love.

Favorite Scary Film: Cry Wolf. It’s not terrifying; I just really like it.

Favorite Book to Movie Series: I have to say Harry Potter. Just love that series…book and movies!

Favorite Book to Movie Stand-Alone: One would have to be The Perks of Being a Wallflower. It was so well done, and it doesn’t hurt that the author was the screenwriter and director.

Now, it’s your turn! Share your favorite films below (or simply comment on mine if you wish)!!!

  1. I sang A Whole New World with one of my voice teacher's other students for a duet, and it was so fun! I feel like my favorite animated movie is Tangled right now and will probably be Frozen as soon as I read it. My friend loves RENT as well and I really want to see it because my knowledge of Broadway shows are super limited even though I love them.

  2. Aladdin!! My Project Disney this coming Friday is Aladdin and I can't wait to cover that one. My husband and I love love movies. We love them so much we even do camp outs at the theater to watch them. The next camp out is probably going to be Captain America. So fun!!!

  3. I have to agree with you Aladdin is a pretty amazing animated film, another of mine is The Lion King, however I can never watch it now without crying. And Harry Potter definitely lived up to my expectations movie-wise, I'm pretty picky when it comes to book to movie adaptations, but I think overall the films were fantastic!

  4. I have plenty of 'favorite' books, but The Time Travelers Wife holds the #1 spot. It's easy for me to say that. However, when it comes to movies, even broke down into categories, no single one comes to mind. Either a BUNCH come to mind or I draw a blank. lol. Right now, I'm drawing a blank.

  5. Aladdin, now I'm having serious childhood nostalgia! And I totally agree with you on Perks – it is such a wonderful adaptation, and I love that Chbosky was able to direct his own book adaptation! 🙂

  6. I agree, you can't just have one favorite for a movie or book. There's all the categories you've mentioned.

Favorite Musical: Grease with John Travolta & Olivia Newton-John

Favorite Animated Film: Beauty and the Beast-Disney

Favorite Foreign Film: Howards End Emma Thompson & Anthony Hopkins

Favorite Scary Film: What Lies Beneath with Harrison Ford & Michelle Pfiefer

Book to movie? That's hard. I just watched The Host & thought it was done really well! I loved Jayne Eryre with Toby Stephens.

  7. YES for variety of favorites! I feel like someone hit me every time I get asked what my favorite book was. Anyhow you've got some really interesting picks there. I love Aladdin too 🙂 and of course Harry Potter and The Perks. Great list 🙂

  8. Yes, I so agree you can have more than one favorite. I always cringe when someone says what is your favorite genre..i refuse to be boxed it and love so many..LOL I love musical movies too and Rent is one of my favorites along with the Sound of Music and Phantom of the Opera.

  9. I definitely have more than one favorite too. I'd have trouble splitting them up into genres though. I think my favorite musical is either Sweeny Todd or Across the Universe…though Repo: The Genetic Opera is a pretty close third.
My favorite animated movies are The Lion King and Beauty and the Beast. Book to Movie is definitely The Lord of the Rings, I love the HP movies but I can binge watch LotR multiple times in one day.

  10. Ooh fun!! Okay, love RENT, but also really love Moulin Rouge, Les Miserables, and Chicago the movies. And I'm probably forgetting some because I just love musicals! Animated film is hard because I love so many, as well. Basically, anything by Pixar/Disney. My childhood fav is Beauty and the Beast. Fav Foreign film: probably Amelie. Fav Scary film: probably The Sixth Sense. Also The Silence of the Lambs. Fav Book to Movies: your choices and also LotR and The Hunger Games!

  11. It's really hard for me to pick a favorite book to movie. It's probably a toss up between Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. My favorite animated was always The Lion King. I just love that movie and the play is brilliant too!

  12. My favorites change a lot. I did recently see The Perks of Being a Wallflower and liked it a lot. But I haven't read the book. 🙁
I do know that when people ask my favorite book I say the Kushiel's series by Jacqueline Carey. That could have changed by now. But really, she wrote a series of books that TOTALLY blew me away!
