Reap the Whirlwind is a spin-off from Aterovis’ last book, Bleeding Hearts, focusing mainly on Asher’s cousin, Will Keegan. The book first deals with Will coming to grips with his sexuality, taking his confusion and anger over the situation to the extreme. His best friend Joey takes the revelation almost as bad, pushing Will away and turning to partying and drinking. Though upset by the recent events, Will begins to settle down and begin his life anew. He gets used to his new roommate, Aidan, begins painting for and working at a gallery, and even meets some new friends. But at a party one night, trying to reconcile his broken relationship with Joey, he finds his life turned upside down. Joey is found dead in the pool, which is written off as an accident since Joey was drunk, and Will becomes friends with an ex of Joey’s named Caitlin who is pregnant with Joey’s child. Will and his newfound friends don’t believe it was all an accident and begin their own quest to find Joey’s killer before he strikes again.

Reap the Whirlwind was just as good as the first book, Bleeding Hearts, and it was great to get to meet new characters, while still welcoming back some of the old. Will’s sexuality is a big theme throughout the book, with his struggle and eventual acceptance. I thought it was written very well and showed the various aspects of every relationship, whether good or bad. Once Joey is found dead, the book picks up its second storyline of mystery and suspense. The group of friends begin their investigation, dealing with new information and roadblocks in a very realistic way. I felt the story flowed nicely and kept you interested in more way than one. The end of the novel had me shaking my head in disbelief and wishing there was more to read!
