Weekly Roundup

Hello everyone. I was thinking about doing something like this awhile ago, but I can’t take credit for the idea…it came to me when Steph over at The Reviewer X started having a post about all things dealing with YA books at the end of each week. I figured since we at Shooting Stars don’t just focus on books, it would be fun to try something like this…hopefully posted every week sometime between Friday and Saturday when I can…and it will focus on a variety of things dealing with entertainment that I found during the week. So enjoy! Let me know what you think. And if you ever find any news you think others should know (or have you own news) feel free to shoot me an email and I’ll try and include it in the Weekly Roundup (lauren51990 at aol dot com).

**The HUGE giveaway for $130 dollars in gift cards (courtesy of us and a bunch of other online bloggers) is still going on. I decided to give people more time and it’s now extended to August 22. Definitely enter that for your shot at winning, and enter Stephanie’s own contest (with practically the same rules) for a shot at winning some sweet books!

Stephanie’s Contest Details

**If you own a copy of I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone by Stephanie Kuehnert already and wish to discuss the book with others, then check out Panic! At the Disco’s online book club…this is their latest book discussion.

**The first trailer for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has been released. You can watch that, as well as news on another Harry Potter “book” here!

**Twilight Fans: Check out this interview with Justin Chon who will be playing Eric in the film. To read more about him and his role in the movie go to Genre of the Month
Don’t forget that since July is now over, Genre of the Month switches from Vampires to Male Protagonists. If you want your book to be included in any way, go to the blog and get in touch with Chelsea (or feel free to email me or any other reviewer involved in the blog!)

**To win a copy of Project Jennifer by Jill Amy Rosenblatt, comment on a post at Writer’s Block Reviews

**All month long (August) you have many chances to enter Book_Luver Carol’s contest. To find out more, check out her blog!

**Author Carrie Jones just wrote a hilarious Guest Blog over at And Another Book Read

**Dominique over at The Book Vault is holding a special contest all month long for her birthday!

**To enter the last contest for a shot at winning Tantalize, we made everyone listen to a band and post their thoughts. I thought it was a lot of fun and I’ll most likely continuing that for future contests. However, if you didn’t listen to the band, The Remorse Code, then please check them out!

**We are in the planning stages for a contest that recognizes being awesome and giving back to others or doing something without a reward. Right now, we want any thoughts you have and we’re also looking for any donations for the prize pack(s). To read more, here are all the details.

**For those of you who live in New York, Anthony Rapp will be starring in a new play on Broadway called Some Americans Abroad. For those that don’t know that name out of the blue…he is the original Broadway actor for Mark in Rent and he also starred in the film. The play sounds amazing and I really wish I lived closer to NY so I could go. Details here!

**Alternative/funk band Danger:Radio has a new release out now titled Used and Abused. They are also currently on tour with Cute is What We Aim For. Listen and find out more on their myspace page

**The movie We’re All Angels is about music duo Jason and DeMarco who just happen to be Christian and gay. I’d heard about this a few months back and was really excited to see it…which I have yet to do, since I don’t have Showtime (though if you do, look out for it!) However, there is good news because they finally posted a release date for the DVD and it will be September 15…which still seems too long for me. To find out more and to listen to their music (link in top friends) then head over here.

**For the blog, I am currently looking into all things International (meaning not from the U.S., which is where I reside). It can be a movie, a book, music, whatever! I know about stuff…and maybe you’ll give me something I already have in mind, but maybe not, so send your ideas our way by commenting on this post or emailing me (emails above!) or writing on myspace!

**Looking for a fun podcast with awesome music to listen too? Try Man of the Hour! I haven’t listened to any new episodes in awhile, and I haven’t heard too many yet, but the ones I know were pretty awesome…and yes! Even gave me some new music to check out! Find out more on their Myspace page!

**On the music front, I think this band is pretty awesome. They are called Book Club and you can listen here
We did an interview with them a month or so back…if you like what you hear, go and find that and learn more about the band! I can post a link later too if you wish. Just let me know!

So that’s it for this week’s Weekly Roundup! As you can tell, not everything was announced or posted in this past week…I have some older news/information as well, but hopefully it’s still fun to read and enjoy! I’m sorry for the lack of photos and fun looking stuff…maybe next time…but this already took me forever because I started this first one all at once (without looking through the week and saving news, which I will start doing…hopefully!). So anyway, it’s the first….maybe not all that exciting yet, but please share your thoughts!
