Official Summary: The star of the hit show Glee shares her experiences and insider
tips on beauty, fashion, inner strength, and more in an illustrated book
that’s part memoir, part how-to, and part style guide.
Lea Michele is one of the hardest working performers in show business. Whether she’s starring as Rachel Berry on Glee, rocking
a glamorous look on the red carpet, recording her solo album, or acting
as the spokesperson for L’Oreal, Lea is the ultimate multi-tasker. She
knows better than anyone that it is difficult to be your best self and
keep things in perspective when your to-do list is overflowing and you
are faced with challenges, so she’s developed a foolproof system for
remaining healthy and centered. In Brunette Ambition, she
reveals the lessons and advice that have worked for her–from beauty and
fashion secrets to fitness tips, and career insights. Supplemented
with never-before-seen photos and revealing anecdotes, it’s the book Lea
wishes she’d had in her teens and early twenties: A practical and
inspirational guide to harnessing tenacity and passion and living the
fullest life, no matter what obstacles life puts in your way.
Review: I’ve been a fan of the show Glee for a long time, and through that, I have become really interested in Lea Michele. I think she is definitely a hard worker who isn’t afraid to go for what she wants, which is something that many of us could find inspirational. The book starts out talking about Lea’s life in the spotlight before Glee, when she grew up on the Broadway stage. She gives the lessons she’s learned, she talks about important role models (like Barbra Streisand), and how her family has always been there to keep her grounded.

I loved the two Question and Answer sections, one of which focused on the industry in general and the other was specifically about Glee (which got its own section of the book of course!) I don’t think you have to be a fan of the show to enjoy this book, however, as Lea focuses on a lot of tips and topics that many women are interested in from beauty for various occasions, recipes of healthy foods, and work out tips. She even lets her trainer, hair, and beauty experts share their personal secrets in the book too, which is awesome. I definitely want to try out some of the exercise ideas she includes, and I know my mom is really excited about the recipes!
This would make a great gift for young girls in your life who you want to grow up happy, healthy, and proud of who they are!
I watched a couple of episodes of Glee but didn't keep up. I love the blond evil coach, though!
It sounds like this would be a fun read for avid fans. Great review, Lauren!
Every time I think of Lea Michelle I think of her poor boyfriend and co-star who OD'd. 🙁
I have never seen Glee before, but I've heard so much about it. But it sounds like it would be a good book for those who love the show. Great review!
This sounds actually pretty good! I don't read much nonfiction – as you know – but I'm always willing to give it a try! I know we both have a mutual love for theatre and the arts, so to hear you enjoyed this one when it is based off of such topics is great! Thanks for sharing Lauren, and, as always, BRILLIANT review! <3
P.S. Sorry I've been MIA in commenting for the past few days! I was on vacation, but I'm back now, so I'm back in routine! 🙂

I have only seen one episode of Glee, but I like that this book has such a positive message for young girls. We need more books like this for teens.
I love that this has so many positive messages for young girls. We really do need more reads like this one around.
Huh, I might actually have to look into this one! It sounds pretty good (: I've never watched Glee, but I may need to start after I read her book.Great review hun(:
I have heard about Glee and it's really popular here too but I haven't seen it. I'm really glad you enjoyed this book and it seems like an interesting book about this industry. Great review, Lauren 🙂
Michelle does seem like an admirable role model. I used to really like her on Glee, and truly love her voice. I think the Q&A would be my favorite part!
Thanks for sharing!
I used to watch Glee regularly, but I've drifted away from it. I thought they did some great things to push the envelop and I appreciated that. This does sound like a book I'd buy for some teens in my family. Thanks.
I have watched a few episodes of Glee but never really continued for some reason. I really liked what I saw! I do love Lea Michelle's voice!
I need more coffee, I was looking at the cover thinking, "I know her" then read your review. I use to watch Glee with my girls before they went of to college and moved out. I know they would love this.
This sounds like the perfect book for me to check out from the library this summer for easy reading 🙂

Enjoyed your review! Not a big fan of Glee, but she sounds like a good role model for young girls.
