Publishers Weekly shares some pictures from the New Illustrated Version of Harry Potter. It will be released on October 6, 2015. I can’t wait!
Another Harry Potter post…this time from Buzzfeed. If Hermione Were the Main Character in “Harry Potter.” I found this quite funny!

And finally, an interesting book-themed discussion post! Renae from Respiring Thoughts has a post called In Defense of Unhappy Endings. I actually like books with unhappy or sad endings. It often feels more realistic than wrapping everything up in a neat bow. Be sure to visit the post though and leave your thoughts!

I prefer happy endings, but there are times when an unhappy ending is all that works.
Like you I actually don't mind unhappy endings, endings where everything tends to be neatly resolved with a pretty bow tend to bug me. I'm also way excited for the release of the illustrated version of Harry Potter! 🙂
I have read that post about Hermione being the main character. It's really funny! But I need to go and read that defense! I love unhappy endings 🙂 Great post 🙂

I actually haven't read Harry Potter, but I'm hoping to read the series and watch the movies eventually! That book-themed post looks really interesting, too, although I'm definitely more of a HEA person 🙂

The Hermione post was pretty spot on and funny 🙂 And I'm soooo in love with the new illustrations – I love them the more and more I see them! Now to just save my pennies until October…
About sad endings – well, I do prefer happy endings, but I see your point about sadder endings. I certainly am not a fan when all plot points are wrapped up in a bow and when all characters find love and are paired together. But I just can't enjoy an ending where there is no hope whatsoever to be had! Just hurts my heart.
I cannot wait for the illustrated HP book! And yes, Harry and Ron would be so dead without Hermione- but what I've always loved about the trio is how much they really needed one another.
Unhappy endings… I like authentic endings, whether happy or unhappy. I don't like when things are unexpectedly wrapped up in a shiny, happy bow, but I've also read endings that felt like a cop out- like the author really didn't know how to end it, so they killed someone off or left it dangling. So, while a lot of my book club girls has a problem with the end of Gone Girl, for instance, I didn't because I felt it was an authentic end for Nick and Amy. 😉

The Buzzfeed link is HILARIOUS! I remember being so annoyed with Hermione in the first few movies, because Emma Watson was such a little over-actress… but she really grew on me over time. And Emma Watson has grown into such a spectacular, self-possessed young woman. Go Hermione, go! 😉
