Official Summary: Every day for the past six years, Tyler Knott Gregson has written a
simple haiku about love, and posted it online. These heartfelt poems
have attracted a large and loyal following around the world. This highly
anticipated follow-up to Chasers of the Light, presents Tyler’s favorites, some
previously unpublished, accompanied by his signature photographs, which
capture the rich texture of daily life.
Review: I have always liked the art of the haiku, though I have to admit it’s a style of poetry that can be difficult to write in if you want whatever you’re saying to make sense. Therefore, I think it’s amazing that Gregson writes a haiku every single day on the topic of love. This book is a collection of some of the best, with a photograph taken by Gregson accompanying about half of them.
This book is something that can be read quite quickly, but like all poetry, it’s nice to sit and reflect on what you have read. I have a few friends that love poetry and I could really see them enjoying this collection. I used to write a lot of poetry when I was younger, but it’s never been something I felt I was especially good at. Reading this book makes you want to start writing though, making notes on the beauty in the world.
As the holidays are fast approaching, I could see this being a good gift for your writer friends or maybe even someone who just got married or is engaged! It should fit most stockings too!
*Author’s Note: The two haiku in this review are from the book!
What beautiful poems, I can fully understand why these got a huge following! Thanks for sharing and I do have a wedding coming up next year so I'll bear this in mind.
Ooh the two that you included are just beautiful – love!
xx
Oh how lovely. As you say a perfect gift for those in love.
These books are nice to just pick up and read a couple of poems here and there when you need to feel inspired. The one you shared was lovely.
Like you, I've always been fascinated by haiku and I try to do a little something with my Creative writing students every year. This seems to be a great book to share with them.
I've actually never really heard a haiku that I enjoyed. I love that the author is a blogger himself since he posted his haiku's online first. His haiku's are really lovely. You should try writing poetry again just for fun. Whenever a book makes me want to do something I know I've taken something great away from it.
I remember trying this in school and it was difficult! This sounds amazing, so glad you reviewed it today!
Such a pretty cover!
I'm not really a fan of poetry exactly but I like books in verse so I'm not sure if I'd like this or not. It does sound like a good gift though.
