I was contacted by the website Invaluable which hosts a variety of different auctions. The reason they wrote me, however, is to look around their website and share with you what items I would love to have in my Dream Literary Collection. Of course, if they don’t have something up for auction, I can still share what I think they should offer! I thought this would be a really fun post so I immediately agreed…and here we go–
I have been a fan of Winnie-The-Pooh since I was very young. I got it from my mom! So I was really excited when I saw The House at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne, 1st edition, Methuen, 1928, up for auction. How cool would it be to have a first edition Winnie-The-Pooh book? Seriously! As I write this the auction is currently live, but I know the starting bid was £200. It should be interesting to see how high the final price goes!
I’m a huge fan of Agatha Christie and while this one, The Secret Adversary, is not a book I have currently read by her, I still think owning any first edition Christie would be fantastic!
Part of the description on the website for this one: Agatha Christie The Secret Adversary UK 1/1st in a Hand Made Binding
This is a Bodley Head publication from London and was publised in 1922
and is a very rare 1st edition 1st printing. This is a full Leather
binding and the authors second and exceedingly scarce book, pub. by John
Lane.
There are no current bids, but it starts at £200.

As for other titles that I would love to own in first edition but did not currently see on the website, I would LOVE anything Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes (Arthur Conan Doyle), and Oscar Wilde.
What about you? What items on the site would you want to own, or what should the site offer for auction in the future?
Too many to mention. But oh to find all of Austen's first editions book would be a dream!
Ohhh same as Joy! Jane Austen first editions would be amazing! I wouldn't keep them on my bookshelf, instead I'd make a glass box and keep them there to preserve forever hahaa.

This sounds like a tremendous site. Great post, you have been so controlled in listing these books as I'm sure you could have listed so many, many more.
Very cool. I would love a first edition of Gone with the Wind.
Love Winnie the Pooh!
What a fun question to ask someone and an even better auction site! I would love to have all my favorite classics for sure and childhood loves.
It would be awesome to own a first edition of Winnie-The-Pooh 🙂
The House At Pooh Corner is one of my favorite books of all time!
xx
I'm a huge fan of Agatha Christie too! "And Then There Were None" has been one of my absolute favorite Agatha Christie books 🙂 I haven't read The Secret Adversary either :/ The website is amazing, I only wish I had enough money to dole out for literary collections like these!
I love Winnie the Pooh. I have quite a few Pooh collectables so I would add this to my list as well.
