Invaluable Asks: What’s Your Dream Literary Collection?

Posted December 18, 2015 by shooting in Uncategorized / 11 Comments

I was contacted by the website Invaluable which hosts a variety of different auctions. The reason they wrote me, however, is to look around their website and share with you what items I would love to have in my Dream Literary Collection. Of course, if they don’t have something up for auction, I can still share what I think they should offer! I thought this would be a really fun post so I immediately agreed…and here we go–

I have been a fan of Winnie-The-Pooh since I was very young. I got it from my mom! So I was really excited when I saw The House at Pooh Corner by A.A. Milne, 1st edition, Methuen, 1928, up for auction. How cool would it be to have a first edition Winnie-The-Pooh book? Seriously! As I write this the auction is currently live, but I know the starting bid was £200. It should be interesting to see how high the final price goes!

I’m a huge fan of Agatha Christie and while this one, The Secret Adversary, is not a book I have currently read by her, I still think owning any first edition Christie would be fantastic!

Part of the description on the website for this one: Agatha Christie The Secret Adversary UK 1/1st in a Hand Made Binding
This is a Bodley Head publication from London and was publised in 1922
and is a very rare 1st edition 1st printing. This is a full Leather
binding and the authors second and exceedingly scarce book, pub. by John
Lane.

There are no current bids, but it starts at £200.

As for other titles that I would love to own in first edition but did not currently see on the website, I would LOVE anything Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes (Arthur Conan Doyle), and Oscar Wilde.

What about you? What items on the site would you want to own, or what should the site offer for auction in the future?

  1. I'm a huge fan of Agatha Christie too! "And Then There Were None" has been one of my absolute favorite Agatha Christie books 🙂 I haven't read The Secret Adversary either :/ The website is amazing, I only wish I had enough money to dole out for literary collections like these!
