Celebrity Memoirs I Want to Read by Lauren

I love reading celebrity memoirs, even if I don’t know their work terribly well. Granted, I’m not likely to read a memoir if I haven’t seen or heard anything this artist has done, but reading their memoir doesn’t mean I am a rabid fan. I just like hearing true stories of how these people grew up and got to where they are now. Plus, some celebrities have really poignant and interesting personal stories to share, and I love reading these! Therefore, I thought I would share some celebrity memoirs that recently came out or are due to come out soon that I need to get my hands on!

Where Am I Now?: True Stories of Girlhood and Accidental Fame by Mara Wilson
Out Now
Many of you probably know Mara Wilson as the cute girl in Mrs. Doubtfire or Matilda, in the movie of the same name. I personally loved the movie Matilda when I was younger so I knew who Mara was, even if I didn’t really think about the person behind the character at the time. Having been following Mara on Twitter, and reading a bit online about her path from child actress to 20-something, I am definitely excited to check out her book.
The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer
Out Now
I’m definitely a fan of Amy Schumer, and I’ve even seen her perform live (she’s hilarious). However, I will admit I’ve never watched her TV show, Inside Amy Schumer. I do want to though, as it looks hilarious. One thing I have seen by her is the movie Trainwreck, which she wrote and starred in and I loved that movie. I am definitely excited to check out Amy’s memoir as I think it will be full of stories that are funny and important.
Sorry Not Sorry: Dreams, Mistakes, and Growing Up by Naya Rivera
Out Now
I was a huge fan of the TV show Glee, so when I heard that Naya Rivera (who played Santana Lopez on the show) was writing a memoir, I knew I had to read it. It finally came out this past September and I’m excited to dive in and see what Naya has decided to share about her rise to fame. I’ve heard a little about the type of stories that she shares and I know this will be an interesting, sometimes emotional, read.

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Breaking the Spine

Scrappy Little Nobody by Anna Kendrick
Out: November 15
I have been a fan of Anna’s for years now (the first movie I ever saw her in was Rocket Science, back in 2007 or so). She is truly one of the celebrities on here that I can say I’ve followed for a long time, so I can’t wait to read her memoir and see what stories she has to share! I love Anna’s sense of self and how she’s not afraid to say what she thinks. If you know her from Twitter, you’re already aware how funny she can be too, so I’m thrilled that she has written a book for us fans!
Talking As Fast As I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls, and Everything in Between by Lauren Graham
Out: November 29th
I absolutely adore Lauren Graham and I am so excited that she has a memoir coming out. I loved her on Gilmore Girls (I think most of us thought Lorelei was a fantastic mom) and even on the show Parenthood. I can’t wait to see what she has decided to share in this memoir, as I have not heard much about it. It comes out around the time Gilmore Girls returns to Netflix, so we can all get our Lorelei fix in more than one medium.

  1. Amazing list of memoirs–thanks so much for sharing! I didn't know Lauren Graham had one out either (admittedly I've never watched Gilmore Girls but I've always wanted to name a daughter Lorelei, oddly enough) 🙂 Also Anna Kendrick / Amy Schumer are both hilarious. Thanks for this list!

    XOXO

  2. I'm not a big fan of memoirs (celebrity or otherwise) and have read very few. I do want to read Anna Kendrick's, though. I really like her and I'm interested in what she has to share. Hope you'll enjoy all of these!
