The Dark Divine: Street Team/Contest

Posted November 12, 2009 by alicia in Uncategorized / 75 Comments

Hey guys, Alicia here!

Today I want to tell you all about an absolutely fabulous book by an amazing new author, The Dark Divine by Bree Despain.

If you all remember, I actually met Bree at the tenner/blogger lunch I went to in August (link here). I have also talked to Bree numerous times, and when I found out she was making a street team, I jumped. So I am proud to say that I am one of the members of The Divine Underground, aka: The Dark Divine Street Team!

As a member of the street team, it is my job to promote the book in any way possible, which I am doing now! 🙂 I also have a ton of swag to give away, and I received an ARC and soundtrack. Now, I got my own pretty, personalized ARC a long time ago–(which I loved) and Bree was nice enough to send me one after we met–so, I thought I’d give this one away to one of you guys!

First of all though, you should visit Bree’s website and blog. Oh, and talk to her on twitter! She is very nice! There is also an amazing soundtrack to the book that you should check out!

Here’s the official synopsis:

A prodigal son

A dangerous love

A deadly secret…

I stood back and watched his movements. Daniel had that way about him that could shut me down in an instant…I kicked the gravel a couple of times and worked up my courage again. “Tell me…I mean…why did you come back? Why now, after all this time?”

Grace Divine, daughter of the local pastor, always knew something terrible happened the night Daniel Kalbi disappeared–the night she found her brother Jude collapsed on the porch, covered in blood. But she has no idea what a truly monstrous secret that night really held. And when Daniel returns three years later, Grace can no longer deny her attraction to him, despite promising Jude she’ll stay away.

As Grace gets closer to Daniel, her actions stir the ancient evil Daniel unleashed that horrific night. Grace must discover the truth behind Jude and Daniel’s dark secret…and the cure that can save the ones she loves. But she may have to lay down the ultimate sacrifice to do it–her soul.

Sounds good, right? Well, it is! Which is why you should enter the contest and check out the first chapter here!

CONTEST TIME!!!!

Prize: One lucky winner will receive a signed ARC of The Dark Divine, bookmarks, stickers, the soundtrack, and The Dark Divine nail polish!**

Deadline: Ends on November 21

Open to: US only! Sorry! I *might* send swag out overseas, so leave a comment if you’re not in the US.

To enter: Simply leave a comment saying which author/book’s street team *you* would like to be on–it may or may not exist. (Be sure to leave your email address! Not sure if I’ll email the winner or make a post, so check back on Nov 22 to see if you won.)

**If over 20 people enter, a few random people will get some TDD swag!

Good luck guys! Oh, and would you like me to post a picture of the prize?

-Alicia

  1. I'd love to win this! I think if I were on an author's street team, it would probably be Ann Aguirre's or Maria V. Snyder's (I have a pin from the latter that actually reads "Book Commando"—pretty close to being on a street team, I think!). I actually am on Jeri Smith-Ready's street team; so those are three authors I always get people to read.
    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  3. OOh! I would LOVE to win this! Mygod I can't wait to read the Dark Divine!
I was going to say that I would want to be on Neil Gaiman's street team, but snice titania already said that, I'll say Lisa See. I would love to be on her street team for pretty much any of her books.
    Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  4. I'd want to be in the Patricia Briggs street team! I LOVE her books and I'm all for pimping them. 🙂

Actually, any book by my favorite authors I will pimp!

  5. Do have to pick only one? Cause I don't think I can do that! But if I could be on a street team I would wanna be on either Julia Hoban's, Laura Wiess', or Suzanne Collin's. I can't decided! It's too hard!

  6. I'd love to be on Melina Marchetta's street team and do anything to get people to read her books even if that means I have to threaten them. Why? Because all of her books are amazing, like extremely amazing 😀

  7. I am dying to read this. I just can't seem to get my hands on an arc. If I were to be on a street team I would have to say I would want to be on Suzanne Collins' Street Team for Hunger Games.

  8. Well, this one sounds like a pretty good one to be on – love the premise, love the cover! Also, I think it would be fun to be on Lisa Manchev's street team for Eyes Like Stars.

  9. I WANT this SO bad. I can't wait to read this and review it on my blog. I wanted to do this street team but didn't think I would have the time to commit. Another book that would be fun to promote would be Beautiful Creatures.

  10. Can I just say I wish I HAD a street team? How awesome is that?
MIne would probably involve babysitting, though, and being fanned by palm leaves. Probably harder to recruit.
    GO BREE!

  11. I've been looking forward to this book for forever!

I would love to be apart of Maggie Stiefvater's street team. She's the author of Shiver, Lament and Ballad. Btw, they're all amazing and so is she!

This is such a great contest! I love the Street Team idea! Hmm, may have to join myself!

If I could join any street team, it would be one for (or all of them) authors Lisa Shearin, Jeaniene Frost, or Luisa Plaja. Lisa Shearin writes some awesome high fantasy novels with a modern tone, Jeaniene Frost writes some thrilling vampire romance/urban fantasy novels, and Luisa Plaja writes very humourous YA novels. I love them all!

I'm from the UK, so I'm entering for the maybe-swag 🙂

I would love a chance to read this one…count me in! As far as an author's street team, well let's see….Stephenie Meyer (GUILTY! Twilight fan), L.J. Smith (specifically for the Forbidden Game series…really good!), Becca Fitzpatrick (Hush Hush was great and the next one promises to be as well!)….I'll stop there. =0)

(P.S. Yes, a picture of the prize would be great!)

  14. if every author had similar swag for their street tema, i would love to just have street team as my job. there are so many amazing authors out there i would have a hard time narrowing it down to just one!

  15. I'm in marketing and it is why I love to blog so much – because I get to put my work with my pleasure. I would love to sign up for a lot of author's street team, including Richelle Mead's – but I think making an impact on a new author would be the most satisfying. So, I guess Becca Fitzpatrick would be my second choice because Hush, Hush was very good. Thanks for the contest.

  22. Hm for a street team it would have to be either Maggie Stiefvater, Simone Elkeles, Sarah Dessen, Patricia Briggs or JR Ward. Sorry for such a long list, but that was even hard for me to narrow it down THAT much.

I would so love to win this book! Can't wait to read it. Thanks for the contest!

  23. Would love to be on street team for Rob Thurman and meet Cal and Niko and fight the big bad. I love contests like this one where everyone gets to "out" their favorite authors and share ideas with other book worms.

Love the ideas in all the comments so far and have found a few new to me authors and books too, cool…

If I could be on someone's street team… definitely Sarah Dessen! I love her books. 🙂 possibly my favourite author of all time.

  25. There are so many authors I just can't choose! I just love the idea of a street team!

I follow Bree on twitter and it took me a few days after I began following her to mentally separate out the Bree and Despain. I was reading it as breeds pain. ~sigh~ stupid I know! That's my brain for ya… 🙂

If I could be on a street team, I would have to be on Stephanie Meyer's. The Twilight Saga is so amazing. It's what got me to love reading so much. Or maybe Laurie Faria Stolarz. I have read all her books too. She is an amazing author.
