Privacy Notice

Effective Date: May 24, 2018

This privacy notice discloses the privacy practices for Shooting Stars Mag and our website; https://shootingstarsmag.net/. This privacy notice applies solely to information collected by this website, except where stated otherwise. It will notify you of the following:

  • What information we collect;
  • With whom it is shared;
  • How it can be corrected;
  • How it is secured;
  • How policy changes will be communicated; and
  • How to address concerns over misuse of personal data.

Information Collection, Use, and Sharing

We are the sole owners of the information collected on this site. We only have access to/collect information that you voluntarily give us via email or other direct contact from you. We will not sell or rent this information to anyone.

We will use your information to respond to you, regarding the reason you contacted us. We will not share your information with any third party outside of our organization, other than as necessary to fulfill your request, e.g., to ship an order/provide a giveaway win.

Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about specials, new products or services, or changes to this privacy policy.

Your Access to and Control Over Information

You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by contacting us via the email address or phone number provided on our website:

  • See what data we have about you, if any.
  • Change/correct any data we have about you.
  • Have us delete any data we have about you.
  • Express any concern you have about our use of your data

Commenting

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Sharing Analytics

We share aggregated demographic information with our partners and advertisers. This is not linked to any personal information that can identify any individual person. This information is provided by Google Analytics. Again, none of the data collected is linked to any individual person.

Cookies

We use “cookies” on this site. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor’s hard drive to help us improve your access to our site and identify repeat visitors to our site. For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our site. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance their experience on our site. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our site.

Some of our business partners may use cookies on our site (e.g., advertisers). However, we have no access to or control over these cookies.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Links

This web site contains links to other sites. Please be aware that we are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of such other sites. We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our site and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.

Surveys & Contests

From time-to-time our site requests information via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary and you may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address), and demographic information (such as zip code, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. If a third-party person/company is providing the prize, this will be noted on the giveaway post so winner is aware their information will be shared with that person/company.

Rafflecopter is the chosen method for gathering entries for a giveaway. We will never have you leave an address to enter the giveaway; we will always contact winners through an email provided. Once a giveaway winner has been chosen and they have replied, old Rafflecopters will be deleted so all information stored will also be deleted. We do not hold on to any of the information provided in order to enter a giveaway. When a winner provides an address to receive their prize, the address is not saved and the email is then deleted once prize has been shipped by us (ShootingStarsMag). We cannot attest to what third parties do with your address information if the prize comes from them.

Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of this site.

Childrens Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

This website does not collect information from any person who is younger than 13 years of age. The website’s information is aimed at those who are 13 years of age or older.

FTC Guidelines

If an item has been sent for review (book, product, etc.), that will be clearly stated in the post. All opinions are always our own, and we do our best to share an objective review with our readers, regardless if the item was given to us free of charge. Not all books/items reviewed were sent for review; this is clearly noted in all posts as well.

Link-Ups

This blog co-hosts a few different link-ups every month where someone can leave a specific link to their blog for easy access to those perusing the link-up. This is meant to help other bloggers find each other and share similar-in-style posts. ShootingStarsMag utilizes InLinkz to allow bloggers to leave a blog post link – it shows up to the public as a photo image with their chosen title. As for me, I see your image, your blog link, and your email. I do not share your email with anyone else. Past link-ups are not deleted so they can always be found by us or others, but if you would like one of your links to be deleted, simply contact me and I will go into the form and delete your blog link.

Affiliate Links/Sponsored

Sometimes ShootingStarsMag shares sponsored links or posts – but we only work with companies or share products we would personally support. Sponsored posts are stated as such in the post. As for affiliate links, if they are used within a post, it will be noted. Affiliate links means if you click and/or purchase something form the link provided, we will get a small percent at NO extra cost to you.
