Happy New Year’s Eve! I know a lot of us probably got gift cards or even some money from various friends and families over the holidays. Now it’s time to utilize those, and what’s better than books? I thought I’d share a fun “gift guide” of sorts of books that I think you should use your money or cards on! What would you choose?
*As an Amazon Associate, I’m linking all of these to Amazon. If you happen to purchase something, I’ll get small percent to help the blog.*
A Game of Thrones: The Illustrated Edition– I’ve never read or seen Game of Thrones. Okay, don’t get angry! I am a bit curious, but I’m not sure if’ it’s for me or not. However, I love that you can buy the first Game of Thrones novel with illustrations. I actually got this for a friend of mine! I haven’t given it to her as I write this, though, but I am SURE she’ll love it.
Young Frankenstein: A Mel Brooks Book: The Story of the Making of the Film– I just love this movie! I think this would be a really interesting look at the making of the film. It’s also a book I’d really like to get another friend of mine sometime in the future because she’s a big fan of this movie too, as well as Mel Brooks in general.
Disney Manga Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas: I absolutely love this film and I’d really like to own this manga version. Isn’t it cool?
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne: I had to add this to my list as it’s something I want to read, but it’s also all over the blogosphere. I think I’ve only read one “meh” review for it too, with the rest being really positive, so that’s a good sign!
Rejection Proof: How I Beat Fear and Became Invincible Through 100 Days of Rejection by Jia Jiang: I really love these type of self-help books where the author did a certain challenge, kind of like The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin. I’m hoping to read this one sometime in 2017!
Slimed! An Oral History of Nickelodeon’s Golden Age by Mathew Klickstein: I grew up watching the classic Nickelodeon TV shows and this book has been on my personal wish list for years now. Would you read this? What Nick shows did you love?
To Timbuktu: Nine Countries, Two People, One True Story: I actually saw this one at my library years back but I think it was weeded out, so now I have to purchase my own copy. I believe there is artwork throughout the book, which I love! Plus, I like nonfiction books like these.
The Who, The What, And The When: 65 Artists Illustrate the Secret Sidekicks of History: I think we all know that some of the greatest names in history didn’t get where they did alone, so I love the idea that we can learn more about these secret sidekicks in this collection!
Funny! Twenty-Five Years of Laughter from the Pixar Story Room: I love Pixar films. Some of my most favorite animated movies are from Pixar, so how cool does this book sound? Would you buy something like this?

There you go! These are some fun ideas that you could put your cash/gift cards towards, if you needed any more ideas!

So many books I could spend my various vouchers on, I'm totally undecided. Mr T would love that Making of Young Frankenstein book though.
Whatever you decide upon happy reading. Best wishes for the coming year.
I'm really disappointed that I didn't get a single gift card this year but I won't let that deter me! The Hating Game is an absolute must! Love, love, love that book.
Happy New Year, Lauren!
To Timbuktu sounds fun!
xx
Sad face, no holiday cards or cash for me this year… I didnt even get books this year (which I always get!!)… so I bought myself some old 1940s Mickey Mouse cartoons to make up for it! haha! <3 – http://www.domesticgeekgirl.com
You picked some really good ones. I recognize The Young Frankenstein from my recent trip to Barnes and Noble. I ended up getting the women's guide to exercises or something. So many pictures of all the exercises you could ever need. I'm going to try to start today doing something if I don't get too lazy. I like the idea of the history of sidekicks books and Slimed! of course. All Tat was just mentioned yesterday by my brother funnily enough. Apparently we have the soundtrack from when we ere kids.
Happy New Year! Hope your year is filled with joy and books! Or is that the same thing? (;

My entire family would LOVE the Pixar book. My 10 year old loves looking for easter eggs in all their movies and he'd love something like this. I love the history and the behind the scenes to see the humans and all they go through to put the art together 🙂
The Sidekicks book looks damn good, too 😉 You always find great gifts!!!
The Hating Game seems to be getting a lot of love. It sounds like a fun read.
Those are some great and original recommendations!

that"s nice! many books to discover!
I didn't get any vouchers, but I did get some great books! I'm kind of into non-fiction at the moment. I'm in need of good dose of biography or history for a while. Happy New Year.
I got a gift card which I'm saving as I also received so many books I need to read some of those first. Happy New Year Lauren.
Oh my gosh I need that Slimed book! I remember that Nickelodeon era so well!
I'm currently making my own list of books I want to buy with the B&N gift card I got. The Hating Game might have to go on it though bc I recently just heard how good it was. I don't read much romance (or adult books), but I'm always willing to try stuff when I hear it's legit good 🙂 I hope you like the books you get!
