Charity Project: The Page Flipper and I

Posted September 8, 2008 by shooting in Uncategorized / 22 Comments

If you have been on Chelsea’s site, this may look familiar…I figured I’d copy and paste most of what she said about it (with some of my own information) since she stated everything very well!

There’s going to be a fantasticfabulousamazing event running on both mine and Chelsea’s blogs from October-December, and we’re hard at work organizing everything. We’re going to be holding a charity event called Leave a Mark, auctioning off “marked up” copies of author’s books. Tons of authors are participating, writing notes and post-its all throughout copies of their books.

They’ll be auctioned off on both of our blogs throughout these months, and believe me, you WON’T want to miss it.

The best part is that 100% of the proceeds are going to First Book, a charity that provides low-income families with books. The winners of the auctions will donate directly to the First Book website, sending us a confirmation email before we ship off their book.

So. Save your money. There are a ton of well-known authors and celebrities participating. (If you’re an author or someone else who has their own fans wanting to participate, we’ve still got some spots open, so feel free to email Chelsea or I — thepageflipper@yahoo.com or lauren51990@aol.com)

Look out for more details.

I also wanted to throw a shoutout to author Alyson Noel for spreading the word on her blog!

If you are already helping with this, thanks so much! We really do appreciate it. As for the readers of our blogs, keep checking back, save your money, and spread the word!

  1. Thanks, glad you think so! As for WHO all is helping…Chelsea and I will start posting some names starting next Monday and the following Mondays after that until October.

    Keep checking back!

  2. sounds great i just hope that things don’t go too crazy and next thing you know there’s two people fighting over the book and there betting a 100 dollars or more, though it would be for a great cause.

  3. What a great idea. I had never heard of marked up copies before but I would love to own a book that the author marked up. I am sure this will be a huge success.

  4. cuileann: Definitely! It’s great fun reading marked up books as well. 🙂

Icedream: I’m glad you like the idea. Keep checking back and see if there is anything you would be interested in bidding for.

    photoquest: why thank you!

trish: chelsea is just brilliant that way. 😉
But thanks! Keep checking back. Spread the word. Whatever!
