I’m sure most of us book lovers have thought about which authors we would love to meet or hear speak in person. I knew I had to share some of my own dream guests, and I’d LOVE to know who you would invite. If you are looking to set up an actual panel or conference, check out Eventbrite’s conference management page to help you out! For me, I’m not going to worry too much about where I’d want to have my dream panel, but rather who I want to be on it!
One of my all-time favorite genres is contemporary fiction, so I thought I’d create a panel with authors that write in this genre. I’m also including my favorite books by these respective authors.
Stephen Chbosky: The Perks of Being a Wallflower: Buy here
Sharon M. Draper: Tears of a Tiger: Buy here
Stephanie Kuehnert: Ballads of Suburbia: Buy here
Kathy Charles: John Belushi is Dead: Buy here
Now that I’ve shared some of my favorite contemporary authors and the book that I love by them, it’s time to share some of the questions that I would ask these authors on my dream panel!
Question 1: Do you go into your books knowing you will address certain tougher subjects, or do they just happen as you write?
Question 2: Would you ever want to see your book turned into a movie? (this is already true for Stephen Chbsoky – who wrote and directed his adaptation).
Question 3: How do you feel your book’s cover relates to the contents within? Would you change anything about the cover?
Question 4: What is it about contemporary fiction that you love to write?
There you have it – my dream contemporary fiction panel. I suppose I should really say Contemporary YA Fiction, since all of these books are for teens/young adults.
Love this post! ♥ Hope to hear from you soon!

I don't know who my dream panel would be; but cheers to including Stephen Chbosky – I've read The Perks of Being a Wallflower more times than I can count!
xx
Hm, as interesting as a panel sounds I think I'd rather have a totally informal sit-down with some of my favorite authors. Just hang out and chat – wouldn't even have to be about their books necessarily. It'd be like girlfriends hanging out. 🙂 I'd include Jennifer L. Armentrout because she's always been so nice, Colleen Hoover because she is hilarious, Katie McGarry because she's quieter like me, K.A. Tucker because I think she'd be a blast, and Sarah J. Maas because I'd never know what she was going to say. We'd have a great time. 🙂
This makes me want to read The Perks of being a Wallflower! And well done for having questions ready, I know I'd be so star stuck if I ever met an author I love that I'd be incoherent.
This is quite a list. I don't know who would be on my list but Melina Marchetta would be a perennial favourite. Lol.
Perks of Being a Wallflower is one of my favorite books! I would for sure have Jane Austen and J.K.R. on my dream panel lol.

omg, your dream panel! I think I might choose a bunch of famous dead authors (Shakespeare, Austen, Dickens, etc) just for the novelty, haha. Your questions are all very good for those contemporary books and authors!
What a cool idea!
Those are really good questions to ask–it'd be awesome to see their answers! *-* Now you've got me thinking on who'd be on my dream author panel! 😛
What a great group of authors. I'm sure THEY would enjoy sitting and talking amongst themselves as much as us asking them questions. And I always want to know what they're reading right now 🙂
So much fun!!! I would love to get some of my favorite authors together and chat!
Oh, I still love YA. 🙂 🙂 Hmm if it was a YA panel… probably Marissa Meyer, Stephanie Perkins, hmm not sure who else. This is a really tough question!!! HAHA XO – Alexandra
Simply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
This would be a really interesting panel to see! If I got to put together a panel it would be YA fantasy and have a ridiculous number of authors because I love so many haha
Oh yes a dream panel would be nice 😀 Like the cover question 😀
Love the questions you've put together for your dream panel and definitely YES! to your inclusion of Stephen Chbosky. I loved The Perks of Being a Wallflower so much!
Oh I have never read any of these, so thanks for including them in your panel round up! I have no idea who would be in my dream panel. Too many too count 🙂
Ooo! Great question. Hmmm, I would love Jane Austen, Agatha Christie, and Phyllis A. Whitney among others. This would be my dream panel 🙂 ~Aleen
