Film Friday

I mentioned last week that Tim Burton is remaking Alice in Wonderland and I promised to try and keep people as updated as I possibly could. For today’s first Film Friday, I wanted to provide a picture of the new Alice, Mia Wasikowska.

The musical Rent is coming to a close on Broaday and to celebrate, the show was filmed and will be shown in theatres for a few days in September. To see a video and learn a bit more about this, go here!

If this sounds good to you (and it certainly does to me!) then check out this site to see if it will be shown in a theater near you!

British actor Ricky Gervais, from the show Extras and the film Night at the Museum, is coming out with a new movie Ghost Town. I think it looks hilarious and can’t wait to see it. Ricky is a funny guy himself, and alongside Greg Kinnear, it should be highly enjoyable.

Watch the trailer. What do YOU think? Going to see it? Or will you pass?

  1. I’ll have to check that out–I always wanted to see Rent on stage. My exboyfriend (years ago) introduced me to the music and I fell in love with it but all I’ve seen is the movie (which frankly was a little crummy despite having much of the original cast). I don’t think it has come to Dallas in years and I’m not holding my breath–our theater here isn’t great! 🙂

  2. Trish: Definitely! I love Rent as well, and it’s great seeing it as a play…I’m sorry you’ve never been able too. I enjoyed the movie actually, but I hope this will be at a theater near you so you can see it.
By the way, they are touring in early 2009 with original members Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal (Mark and Roger), so be sure and check those dates! You never know!!

  3. Erin: No problem. I agree as well…I think she’ll make a good Alice based on appearance. I don’t believe I’ve ever seen her acting, though I’m sure it’s great.

Awesome! I’ll be seeing it for sure.

  4. She’ll make a great Alice by the looks but she’ll have to dye her hair blonde. As for Ghost Towns I don’t think I’ll see it. It just doesn’t get my attention.

  5. cuileann: I think she looks the part as well. I like that they didn’t pick some cute “it” girl, you know?

Carol: I was thinking that too, about her hair being blonde…they might. But did Alice in the book have blonde hair? Never read it, so I have no clue..
