Guess Who Is Going to BEA 2016?

Posted April 25, 2016 by shooting in Uncategorized / 28 Comments

Guess what you all? I’M GOING TO BEA! I’m so excited, because while I was lucky to attend last year, I never met any bloggers and I knew I really wanted to do that this year. Plus, it’s in Chicago so I don’t have to fly this time around which is great with the lame delays last year that meant I got to BEA late. Sigh. At any rate, my sister was finally able to say she could attend (she wasn’t sure because of work, etc.) and she went with me last year, so all we had to do was click the email we had been sent that automatically registers us for this year’s convention. I hear BEA is going back to NYC next year and that means I probably won’t be able to attend one of these again; at least not for years to come! All this to say that I’m really happy that the schedule of it worked out, and for the rest of it (money, etc.) I’ll just make it work!

Anyway, I know some of you who are going but now that I’m officially signed up, please remind me! Any way we can meet up? Are you doing anything where you’re meeting other bloggers and don’t mind me and my sister tagging along? I signed up for the BEA Blogger Dinner – well, I signed up for information; it depends on when the dinner is held. We should basically be in Chicago for Thursday and Friday in terms of when we can see people, so those nights are free! Granted, I don’t want to make my sister do just bloggy stuff if she’s not up for that, so I’ll have to figure out plans. I think she’d love to meet all of you too though!

So yes -are you going to BEA? If you don’t mind sharing, what hotel are you staying in? You can always DM me on twitter (@shootingstarmag) or email too if you don’t want to lay it all out there online: lauren51990 AT aol DOT com

What books are you looking forward to?

Do you know of any LGBT+ books/authors that are going to be there/featured? Right now I know History is All You Left Me by Adam Silvera and I am desperate to get an ARC of that one!

  1. YAY!!! I'm so excited that you'll be there! Can't wait to meet you in person! If I see any books listed that I think you'll be interested in, I'll let you know. I can't help with hotels because I'm staying at home (even though it's a bit of a commute, the money savings makes it worth it).

  2. Yay, Lauren!! Exciting news! Would be even more exciting if I could also attend and meet you in person, but you know, you can't always get what you want. I do hope to attend BEA one day, but in the meantime it's always fun to live vicariously through all my favourite bloggers who are at BEA 😀 Have fun!!

  3. Oh that's wonderful news!! I hope you enjoy every second of it! I wish I could say that I was attending again (I went the last 3 years in a row) but Chicago is WAY more far for me and I couldn't afford to fly. I live in Eastern Canada so me and my cousin actually drove to NYC LOL! I didn't know it was moving to NYC again next year, I thought it'd stick to Chicago for a few years at least! I can't wait to hear all about your trip and thanks for stopping by my blog earlier ♥ New follower via GFC and Bloglovin' 😀

  4. I've never been to to BEA so I'm so jealous that you'll be going! It's going to be such an amazing experience and I hope you're able to grab the ARCs you most want! 🙂

  5. Wow! What incredibly exciting news Lauren! I'm so glad BEA worked out splendidly for you this year 🙂 I can't wait to see all the romp you'll be sharing with us 😀

  6. OMG! I'm so happy for you, and I hope you have an amazing time at BEA! Be sure to grab lots and lots of books so you can be entertained for months to come. 🙂

I'm not able to attend this year, but hopefully I'll have a full time job next year and I'll be able to go. 🙂

  7. Congratulations! I'll be there. I believe OF FIRE AND STARS is an LGBT YA fantasy, if you're interested. The author is signing on Thursday.

Oh my goodness- you are going to have so much fun. I have gone that past few years when it has been in NY, but I can't make it to Chicago when it is taking place. I can't wait to hear about your experience. Wear comfortable shoes and be ready to carry lots of book. 🙂

  9. Congrats on going to BEA- hope you have a fantastic time! I've never gone, but if it returns to NYC, I'd love to try and make it, especially since that's where I'm originally from and I'd get to visit my old neighborhood. 🙂
