A group of friends have a fairly popular Youtube channel called Ghost Gang, but they are ready to go bigger. That leads the four friends – Chrissy, Chase, Emma, and Kiki – to a haunted hotel in Los Angeles. What makes this group different from others is that Chrissy can see and hear ghosts. The group definitely get more than they bargained for when they come across a dead body in the hotel, and all sorts of other freaky things start happening.

I love all those ghost hunting shows, so I was really curious to read Horror Hotel. I have to say that it wasn’t as awesome as I’d hoped – but I did give it three stars. I liked the overall mystery and the ghosts. Plus, the LA hotel was fascinating to learn about. However, there was a bit too much romance for me. I don’t mind some, but for a shorter novel, I think it overtook the rest of the story. There is LGBT+ rep though, and I always appreciate that!

It is like my favorite show the Dead Files, but in a book! Bummer you didn’t love it quite as much. In general, you have to know what you are talking about in relation to ghost-talking in order to be able to pull it off. Too many fakies out there trying to say what it is like!

  2. Aw man, sadly I have seen many reviews that echo your sentiments. I will probably cross this one off my list, unfortunately. I think you are right about too much romance in a short, horror-focused novel, too. Some is cool, but how the heck much can you really cram in there? Sorry this was a bit of a letdown!
