In honor of Matt Monroe and the Haunted House, I have a quick interview with the author, Edward Torba. Continue on for the tour-wide giveaway too!
I see this book has a Mom’s Choice Award honoring excellence? What does this mean?
The Mom’s Choice Awards® (MCA) evaluates products and services created for children, families and educators. Their standards are very high. It is not easy to win one of their awards.
Five evaluators read your book. If at least three of them approve your book, you win the award. If four evaluators approve your book, you win the Silver award, i.e. my first book, Matt Monroe and the Secret Society of Odontology won a silver award. If all five evaluators approve your book, you win the Gold award—their highest rating. Matt Monroe and The Haunted House won a gold award.
Around the world, parents, educators, retailers and members of the media look for the Mom’s Choice Award Honoring Excellence seal of approval when selecting quality products and services for children and families. So you see, winning this award is a heads up to parents and teachers that the substance of this book is of a high quality with a positive message for children.
How many books do you envision for the Matt Monroe series?
A minimum of three books will finish the first story arc and I’m personally committed to that. The title of the third book in the series is: Matt Monroe and The Stolen Treasure. If Matt is popular, I envision up to seven books in the series.
Anything fun or interesting you can tell us about the cover for Haunted House?
If you look closely, you can see the ghosts of the Parker children; Nathaniel standing on the front porch, and Annabelle peering out the upstairs window.
Haunted House includes dragons, elves, etc.—how would you classify this novel in terms of genre?
Middle School (ages 8 thru 13) fantasy adventure for both girls and boys.
