During Covid, I really missed seeing movies in theatres. I definitely focus better than if I’m trying to watch at home. Over the past month or so, my parents, sister, and I went and saw a few movies. I thought I’d share some mini reviews here in case you were interested!
Marry Me stars Jennifer Lopez as a pop singer who is going to marry her fiancé live on stage, played by Maluma. Of course, she finds out he’s cheating right before and ends up telling a guy in the audience (holding a Marry Me sign) that she’ll marry him…and that would be Owen Wilson.
Marry Me was an enjoyable rom-com, and I personally love J-Lo. I really adored the humor, the eventual romance, and the honesty about being in the spotlight while just trying to find love (something that J-Lo herself knows all about). Plus, most of the soundtrack is J-Lo and Maluma and I highly enjoyed it. I think you can stream Marry Me on Peacock right now, if you aren’t ready to hit the theater.
Death On the Nile is based on an Agatha Christie novel, which I read for the first time last year. Things are changed, and the cast became more diverse, but nothing I would complain about. Kenneth Branagh is once again Hercule Poirot (he played the same character in Murder on the Orient Express). This is a star-studded cast in an enjoyable movie. It is slower moving, especially for a murder mystery, but if you go in expecting that, it’s not too bad. I’d see another movie with Branagh as Poirot.
Why yes, I did mostly go and see Uncharted for Tom Holland. It was a really enjoyable movie though! Some emotion and heart, but mostly full of humor and action. It’s based on a video game, which I know nothing about, but if you do – there you go! Mark Wahlberg and Tom’s characters had a great back and forth, which made the movie even more enjoyable. When it comes to action films, I tend to need great characters and/or good humor to keep me engaged, and Uncharted had that. It’s set up at the end for a sequel, which I’d watch if there is one.

My parents, sister, and I all enjoyed these three movies. Plus, it’s just fun to be back in the theatre and seeing things on the big screen again! Up next, I hope to see The Lost City with Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum, and Dan Racliffe.
I want to read and then watch Death on the Nile. I’ve never read her books but now I have three of them waiting!
I really want to see Death on the Nile!
I love these quick reviews. I missed movie theatres too! Now I’m so out of the habit, I forget to go to them. But I did see Batman with my 14-year-old. Lots of murder..very dark…I think I would’ve like any of these three better.
Oh this is fun! I can’t remember the last time I went to the movie theatre but I do miss it! All three of these movies sound fun, so I’ll need to check them out.
I have been itching to get back to the theater! We wanted to see Black Widow and then Spiderman in theater and we just settled on streaming since it was so much easier!
I don’t watch a lot of movies but I could see myself enjoying Marry Me. I do want to see The Lost City when it hits theatres.
I’m curious about Death On the Nile. I’m surprised it was even released with all the Armie Hammer drama!
I’m a fan of J-Lo rom coms (Wedding Planner, Maid In Manhattan, The Backup Plan) but I have to say Marry Me was the corniest one of them all but still enjoyable.
I’m not much of a movie watcher but I do like Kenneth Branagh. I didn’t realize he played Poirot. I bet he’s great in the role!
I love Tom Holland, but am not always the biggest fan of Mark Wahlberg, even though I love his brother Donnie! Glad you enjoyed all these movies!
I haven’t been to a theatre since before COVID. I’m mostly just lazy about it now lol
I was also spoiled by the really great theatres and seats in FL. We don’t have that out here – or very many places nearby so we didn’t go to a lot of movies out here even pre-pandemic,
I’ve been watching a lot of TV/streaming movies – we watched Seeing Red last weekend and it was cute.

Thanks for sharing your reviews. I am happy to hear you liked Uncharted. The gamers out there are none too pleased with the casting.
Ummmm….Mark Wahlberg and Antonio Banderas. Yeah, that is a definite must-see movie!
