Barbie: A Movie Review
I have seen the Barbie movie twice now, and I absolutely loved it both times. I think the casting was done really well, and I loved how it was kind of made for adults that grew up playing barbies. With the PG-13 rating, I think it’s kind of obvious this isn’t a typical kid’s movie, so just in case you don’t know, most younger kids might not get this one. There’s a lot that would definitely go over their heads.
Both times I saw this, I ended up crying. Not always at the same parts, but still, both times. It’s funny and nostalgic, but it’s also really emotional. I loved the feminism and girl power. There’s a lot of commentary on how it’s tough to be a woman in the Real World and I loved it! Also, the music in this film was fantastic! I really want the soundtrack now.
This is what I wore on opening night, my first time seeing the movie. I also got a couple Barbie themed cookies at a local bakery to share with the friend I saw the movie with.
Haunted Mansion: A Movie Review
I saw this movie with my mom and we both really liked it. It’s funny, a little spooky, and even emotional – yes, I cried at Haunted Mansion. There’s a lot of discussion about grief and losing a loved one, so just FYI if that’s a big trigger for you. I thought the cast was well done. I loved LaKeith Stanfield in the main role. I thought he did a great job, especially with the more emotional moments. Owen Wilson was one of the biggest comic reliefs, which is especially needed in this movie.
I don’t know why this was released at the end of July and not in the Fall, but I do recommend!
I’m seeing Barbie either this week or next. Can’t wait!

I’ve not seen either of these but there’s no denying that Barbie is the mega hit of the summer! Glad you enjoyed both of these.
I really liked both of these! I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed the Haunted Mansion movies too.
That Haunted Mansion movie I hope it out to watch at home by the fall, it’d be the perfect spooky Halloween movie to watch! I saw the previews for it. I LOVED The Barbie Movie and I teared up too during it!

I LOVED Barbie, we are hoping to see Haunted Mansion today!
I think I’m one of the few who haven’t seen Barbie yet. I might wait until it comes to the small screen. The Haunted Mansion looks good. I’d like to watch that too. The only time I end up going to a movie theatre is when my daughter has me go with her and the kids. We almost went and saw Barbie this last weekend but ended up having too much to do. Nice to hear you enjoyed both!
I’m a huge Disney fan, so I was puzzled when I saw this movie coming out in the middle of the busy summer movie season. It seems like they get the tone of the ride right, so I can’t help but feel like it would have been more successful during the fall.
I would have expected a fall release for The Haunted Mansion too. Glad to hear both of these were good. I really want to go see Barbie.
My kids have told me that I need to see the Barbie movie. I probably won’t though.
I haven’t seen a movie in the theater for a pretty long time… I didn’t even play with Barbie growing up, but I really liked the Barbie movie too!
I haven’t seen Haunted Mansion yet. It does seem like it’d be better released in the fall, but my friend mentioned it the other day — we may end up watching it!
The Barbie movie sounds fun and really great in terms of messages. I’ll wait for it to come to streaming, but I do want to see it. I’m glad you liked both of these!
I need to go see both of these soon!! Glad you had fun!
I can’t believe I haven’t seen the Barbie movie yet. My mom and I definitely want to see it – we’ve just been so busy on the weekends lately! You’re definitely not the first person I’ve seen say they cried at the movie.
I really enjoyed the Barbie movie too! Those cookies are so fun!

I haven’t heard of Haunted Mansion (and agree–a bit strange to release in the summer??) but I really want to see Barbie. I love that you got to see it 2x! I have heard it’s a bit emotional. I cry at everything so I’m sure I’d shed tears, too!
Aw these both sound great! I am very interested in seeing the Barbie movie, maybe now that it is available to rent or buy I will get to! I am now also curious about Haunted Mansion, but I am a big crier so I imagine I will cry at both of them, too!
