Happy Friday! It’s the second Friday of April and that means it’s time for Glossies Made Me Do It: where I share what magazines have inspired me to read, think about, eat, and more! If you have your own post, please link up below!
Real Simple April 2020
I found a product to try out this month from Real Simple magazine, which is a relatively new subscription for me. I’m loving it though – I find out all sorts of fun information and learn about great new products I want to try out.
Glossies Made Me Do It: Screen Cleaner from PhoneSoap
Near the beginning of the magazine, there is a feature called Clever Items: Little Helpers to Make Your Life Easier. This is where I came across the 2-in-1 Screen Cleaner from PhoneSoap. Now with the current state of the world, people are looking all over for sanitizing products. This isn’t exactly that – it just cleans and makes your phone (or computer, or watch, etc.) look nicer. However, PhoneSoap does have products that will sanitize your phone. These are definitely more costly, but if that’s what you’re looking for, they do have options!
The item that I got is called the PhoneSoap Shine and it’s $7.95 on their website. So far I’ve only used it on my iPhone, but it definitely made it look cleaner and brighter, so it’s obviously doing its job!
Glossies Made Me Do It: Real Simple magazine spotlights PhoneSoap Shine; an easy way to clean your cell phone! #phonesoap #ontheblog Share on XHere is what I enjoy about the PhoneSoap Shine-
- It has over 150 sprays, so you can use it for awhile
- It’s a great size for keeping in your purse or wherever you want to store it
- The 2-in-1 aspect is awesome, because the spray is on the top, and the microfiber cloth is on one side of the PhoneSoap Shine. You don’t have to carry around two products, and it really does make things easier
- While it’s small and built for things like phones and watches, you can still use it safely on your TV or computer. I think I’ll try it out on my computer next!
If you’re cleaning your phone, take off your phone case as it makes it easier to use the cloth part of the PhoneSoap Shine. Otherwise, you might be bumping into the cases sides, etc. It would be cool if it had some sanitizing properties, but that’s okay! It works well for what it was made for, and I could see this being really handy for people that use their phone a lot (fingerprints, smudges, etc.) or even if they wear a lot of makeup (foundation often comes off on your screen if you’re talking on the phone).
Let’s Discuss: What do you think about the PhoneSoap Shine? Would this be something you’d purchase? What about their sanitizing devices (these are pricier!)

I always clean my phone (even before all this) and I like that this all in one.
Kevin had been looking at those UV phone sanitizers but they’re still super pricey.

That sounds especially useful in light of the Covid-19 outbreak. People don’t think about how dirty their devices can get!
I’m so aware of how dirty a phone can get and it is great that this sanitiser can be used safely on other devices.
Real Simple is one of my favorites. Right now I get Real Simple, Martha Stewart, Better Homes & Gardens and Southern Living. I have a microfiber cloth that I use to clean my phone off with. I am hoping the price of the phone sanitizers goes down or someone else makes them cheaper eventually!
I am always needing to clean my laptop and phone!! I need to check this product out. You’re making me want to subscribe to a few magazines with this shut in business going on for so long now! lol

I am always thinking about how dirty my phone has to be and this is a great idea for safely cleaning it. I might have to check it out!
Interesting that you mention this. I am going to check it out. While I was Facetiming with my sister yesterday, she received a package in the mail. She opened it while we were chatting and it was an ultraviolet light phone cleaner. It is large enough that she could clean other small gadgets, even her keys, in the device. And it doubles as an aromatherapy diffuser. Ha!! I am going to need to invest in something will compare the two. Thanks for this review.
Oooh! This is awesome!
I like the magazine “Real Simple”. I need a phone cleaner too. 🙂
I’ve never heard of this product before, but it sounds like it would be a great find. I am constantly wiping my phone down with Clorox wipes!
Phones definitely get filthy and people rarely think to clean them. I personally just use antimicrobial wet wipes and they work well but I like the idea of this too. 🙂
I am a freak about cleaning my phone and laptop..always have been. I like this all in one item!
I like the 2-in-1 aspect so you don’t have to try and keep track of two different products.
This sounds great. I love that it’s purse-sized since I’m usually out and about when I notice how dirty my phone is.
I totally need this! My screen is always musty and dirty. Thanks for sharing your glossie find!
That’s a great product that Glossies made you buy 🙂 I think anything that cleans must also kill potential viruses that may exist. It doesn’t have to be labelled ‘sanitize’ to do the job…I think? This would be great for my ipad as well. I LOVE Real Simple. I haven’t bought it for a while but you’ve got me missing it now. I used to read it monthly when my kids were young and I was full time homemaking.
I would imagine it kills some germs!
