If you’ve been following me for awhile, then you know that I love a good craft moment. I’m not always the best, but it’s always a good time. I thought I’d share some recent crafts I’ve done!
I went to a Block Printing Workshop with a friend of mine. It was hosted at a local bookstore/coffee shop called Roebling Books, which was fun. The person in charge had these little “blocks” which you can see above with a design printed on both sides. The block really feels like an eraser of sorts. I chose the mushroom design, as did my friend, because it had less detail. We had to use special tools to lift away a lot of the pink area so we could essentially have a stamp of the design.
We ended up using the stamps to create bookmarks! Mine has the purple tassel and my friend has the gold. Hers definitely turned out better, but I call mine a punk rock mushroom because it’s a bit more jagged! I think they both look great, and it was a really fun workshop to try something new.
One of my friends and I have started a tradition of sorts where we do these stained glass workshops at Baker Hunt in Covington, KY. This was our third time going and while his always turn out better than mine, I think I’m slowly getting better! Regardless, it’s a lot of fun and we really enjoy going. Our third there was to make these feathers. You can see mine above. His had more “see-through” colors so it looks amazing when the sun hits it!
We will definitely keep doing these because they’re so fun! I highly recommend looking into a similar workshop where you live; you might just have one!
My next craft was this Nevermore painting. My sister made one too! This was done in Waynesville, Ohio for their Night of Poe event. I love Edgar Allan Poe so it was really fun going. We had a way to trace the image, and then we had to do the painting and details on our own. I’m not sure I could have free-hand drawn this, so the tracing aspect was definitely appreciated.
This painting was done by my sister. I definitely like her beak better!
And finally, I went to a Paint & Sip place with two of my friends who had never been before. We did a version of Monet’s water lilies. I feel like it looks more like flower petals than lily pads, but that’s okay. I like the end result, and it’s hanging up in my kitchen right now. Both of my friends had fun too, and that’s the main thing. This painting is bigger than the Nevermore one and it’s all free-painted by myself, which always makes you feel good looking back.
Have you ever done any of these type of crafts before? Would you be interested?
Those paintings turned out great! I also love those bookmarks.
Your crafts always come out great! I just saw your recent cat bowl on IG too.
I need to make time to do crafts again! I really love the stained glass, so, so pretty and fun!
