Review: I Love You, Beth Cooper Soundtrack
by: Lauren
In Theatres: July 10
Basically-

I have to say that I really enjoyed this soundtrack and I don’t like most of them. It always seems like a movie has songs I like and then ones I don’t like and it never feels worth it to get the soundtrack…that’s not really the case when it comes to this one. I Love You, Beth Cooper has a blend of new and old, hard and soft, making it a great summer album.

Break It Down (Does not include all the songs)-

“Forget Me” (acoustic) by Violet Columbus: She has a very sweet voice and her vocals reminded me a lot of a young Kimya Dawson (Juno soundtrack)

“Try it Again” by The Hives: upbeat, clap-along song

“Sway” by The Kooks: I knew “Naïve” from this british band and I must say this is another good one from them. Very heartfealt.

“Last kiss” by Christophe Beck: a musical number only (no lyrics). It was nice and relaxing to listen too, and it’s cool to have a “story” told through music alone. Beautiful.

“Catch Me if You Can” by Gym Class Heroes-starts out with a clap-along, electronic vibe before Travis comes in with his lyrics. Rap, with a band back up…in case you don’t know much about this band!

“Too much, Too young, Too fast” by Airbourne: classic rock song that’ll have you banging your head and breaking out the air guitar! Perfect for all people planning a night on the town and want to live it up with no regret.

“A Good Idea at the Time” by Ok Go: fun, definitely another one to enjoy.

“Beth” by Kiss: for those American Idol fans, you might remember Adam Lambert singings this on the final episode. A slow song. As a dork, I love that they used this since Beth Cooper is the main girl in the book/movie.

“School’s Out” by Alice cooper: You can’t get a better “summer” song than this. After all, you usually hear people quoting it all over the place as soon as school lets out. And it’s still summer now, so you know you need to rock out to this one!

“School’s out for the summer, school’s out forever!”

  1. I know the Kooks, KISS and Alice Cooper, and your descriptions of the other tracks sound intriguing. Seems like a mix of old and new with a sweet hipster-ish sound. I'll definitely have to check it out.
