It’s September and I’m once again linking up with Anne from In Residence for her monthly Currently link-up. I’ll also be sharing this with Kristen at See You in a Porridge for her What’s New With You link-up (1st Wednesday and 1st Thursday, respectively, of each month – link up with us!)
Starting: I hope to be starting at least one new dance class this month. Right now it will probably be tap, but if I can sign up for a hip hop cardio class later, then I’d like to eventually join that too. It all comes down to money, of course.
Buying: I’d like to be buying some books that have come out recently, but I’m trying to save some of my money for upcoming trips, experiences, etc. I try to spend more money on doing things instead of collecting more physical items.
Sharing: Ideas about what my friends and I want to do during our trip to New York City this November. The majority of us have been at least once, but one friend has never been, and there are a mix of things everyone would like to try and fit in during our few days there.
Reading: I just finished Don’t Believe It by Charlie Donlea and it’s such a good mystery. I’d definitely recommend it. I’m currently reading the novel version of Dear Evan Hansen, which comes out this October, and it’s really good so far!
Recording: Nothing at the moment, but shows are coming back (or airing for the first time) this month, so I’m sure I’ll be using my DVR somewhat to keep up with those. I’m excited for The Good Doctor to come back in particular.
Hope you sign up for a dance class because it sounds like something you really enjoy.
I like the way you say you are looking at spending money on doing things rather than collecting physical things.
You must be so excited for your New York trip!
Hip hop cardo! Oooooh, I’d love to do something like that too! I can’t wait to see how you go if you choose that one Lauren, you’ll be popping in no time! Saving sounds like a great option at the moment for me too. There’s so many massive bills coming in this time of year and with Christmas just around the corner too.
A trip to NYC, that’s so exciting! I hope you’ll share your experiences on the blog.
I always wanted to learn tap dance, especially Irish tap dance. I hope I’ll have the chance one day…
Oooh! Enjoy your dance classes!
I wish i could dance, i’ve always wanted to do ballet! Hope you enjoy!

I think it’s awesome that you take dance. A trip to NYC will be so much fun! I’m excited for The Good Doctor to come back too!
I’m craving an NYC trip so badly!!
Yay! You’re going to have a blast in New York! That’s where my husband is from, and I’ve been lucky to find some cool spots to hang out when visiting. Can’t wait to see pics and hear your stories of the trip. Like you, been saving cash on buying books, but sometimes I can’t help myself! HUGE Hugs and Happy Wednesday! RO
A trip to NYC sounds wonderful! As dies dance classes! Hope you are having a good week!!
Trip to Nyc sounds like fun!
I like to live the same way you do. I enjoy spending my money on experiences rather then physical items. I already feel like my house it cluttered and adding anymore will just be overload. I am already not looking forward to Christmas with a baby because EVERYONE will want to buy him things. My clutter anxiety is already showing its head!
Yay for dancing and trips. It is hard not getting books, but the library may help ease that pain!
I did a hip hop cardio class at a gym once and it was so much fun- and so exhausting! I try to save for experiences/trips instead of physical items too. How long will you be in NYC?
I’d love to take dance classes too (hip hop), but I’ll probably just make myself look funny. xD Have fun on your trip to NYC–I hope you guys manage to try out everything you want to while you’re there! β₯
Yep – the Fall season is coming – full of great shows to make sure to record!!!
I love you’re taking dance classes!!! I would love to take a ballroom class. I think I’d be good at it, but I’d probably be an epic fail π haha Always better in the mind
Your upcoming trip sounds like a lot of fun!!! And I’m with you on experiences over things!
Oh, I hope you and your friends have a fun trip to New York. I have only been there once, but I loved it! First flight, first subway, first train…lots of firsts for me. π
Thanks for sharing.
A dance class sounds so fun! My husband and I really want to take salsa lessons so I’m hoping we can do that this winter. I bet you are so excited for your trip to New York! I have never been there but would like to go someday!
I’ve been on the hunt for a good mystery. Thanks for the recommendation.
Dance class sounds so fun! Considering my last dance class was over twenty-five years ago HAHA! Yes! I agree I’m not a stuff person I’m an experiences person so high five sister!
Oh, spending money on “doing” things, rather than collecting objects, is something I’m also trying to do more. It’s a work in progress, but it’s so good to do that, well, I think, haha π
And dance class, that sounds really fun! π
I think it’s so smart that you’re saving money to start “doing” things and spending money on experiences rather than physical objects! I’d love to do that too, but MAN IT’S HARD! Haha. I do think books are a good physical item because you get an experience out of reading as well, so it’s kind of both physical and experiental?

It feels nice to be settling back into a routine this week. The summer was crazy. I hope you get that dance class in. Sounds fun
Have you watched the new Jack Ryan series with Jim from the Office π ? It’s sooo good! Plus NY in November sounds super fun!!
A tap class! How fun!!
I love The Good Doctor! I am so ready for fall TV to come back. Chris and I are almost completely caught up with our Blue Bloods binge…just in time!
Ooh your trip is coming up! So exciting. Have fun in your dance class/classes too, those sound like a blast!
I’m jealous of your NYC trip. I would love to go but have never been. I’m glad you get to go though! Have a blast!
I have always wanted to go to NY. I hope that you enjoy your dance class. Sounds like you have lots of great things to look forward to. π
I am there with you! I am all about doing stuff instead of having stuff.
Youβll love the hip hop class if you decide to take it, it is so much fun. Itβll definitely make you sleep that night. I need to read the books I have before I buy more. Which books are you thinking of? I may need to add to my collection hah.
Sounds like you have a fun fall season ahead! I haven’t heard of that book but definitely going to check it out!
Oh man I used to do some adult tap dance classes and it was SO fun. You’re making me want to look into some where I live now! And how fun to be planning for a trip with friends π
Yay for your upcoming trip to NYC. I’m heading there in October and can’t wait!
I don’t even let myself look at books in stores because it’d be so easy to buy a bunch and that adds up. So I feel you on that!
I want to buy a TON of books this fall and I successfully walked through a book store and bought nothing yesterday! I have to put myself on a total spending freeze because the fall is easily the months everything is due so I want to buy all the things but… yeah. No. :/
I love that your taking dance classes!! One of my favorite authors just released a book this week and I fought with myself about ordering it. It came yesterday and I’m SO glad I decided to get it π
Happy September! Hope you have an awesome one!
A new dance class sounds awesome! And I hear you on the DOING instead of KEEPING.
I hope you enjoy your books this month!
i am trying to save money as well, and books are probably my most common purchase, even if they might be cheaper than clothes or makeup, they certainly add up! dance class sounds fun!
Tap dance is so much fun! I didn’t think I’d love it as much as I did when I took it way back when. Hip hop would be fun, too! I’m excited to hear more about your trip to NYC!
Experiences over stuff any day!
I really want to do tap dance!
I hope you have a great time in your dance class and in NYC. I think it’s a great idea to spend more time on experiences instead of stuff.
I have been shifting my focus in the past year or so to spending my money on experiences (or to pay people to do things that I despise doing) in lieu of buying more stuff. It’s sometimes hard to break that buying pattern, but I’ve discovered that I it makes me happier.
Oh, NYC… I bet it is lovely in the fall. I look forward to seeing your pictures.
There’s always something new to do in NYC. Can’t wait to hear about your trip!
Good luck on your dance class! And for restraining yourself from books, even if they’re amazing and pretty. ? (I’m a horrible influence right there.)
Ooh, tap. If I was more coordinated, this might interest me. I am trying to watch how much I spend on books for the rest of the year myself, but it’s so hard with so many amazing books coming out. Happy September!
