Shelton in Love by Dianne Hartsock

Official Summary: Shelton is falling in love with his roommate, Nevil—but Nevil isn’t the type who believes in lasting love, though he’s more than willing to take Shelton to bed and have all the fun they can. How does a man who wants forever convince a love’em and leave’em type to give a relationship a try? Sheer determination, and a whole lot of heart.
Review: This was originally published in volumes, I guess, so when reading the book all the way through, it did feel a bit disjointed. Maybe it was just the ARC, but I hope the finished product will clue readers into the time shift a bit more. Sometimes it’s just a six month jump, but it would still be nice to have that along with the chapter number so you aren’t reading and then suddenly going “Oh, this is the future now.” Basically, it just kept throwing me off.
While I wouldn’t say the author is a bad writer and I’d be curious to see what else she publishes, I only gave this one 2 stars on Goodreads. To be honest, it relied way too much on the physical nature of their relationship and that got really old after awhile. I liked Shelton and Nevil and the book follows them through some major moments in their life, but again, it felt like it was a narrative of a couple’s life over a a period of years with lots of sex. Not quite for me, but maybe you’ll like it better!

Oh, that's too bad. Gratuitous sex can sometimes be off-putting so I don't doubt that you had a terrible time with this.
The fact that the story relies so heavily on the physical aspect of their relationship is a little troubling. The fact that Shelton wants more and yet the story focuses so much on the physical seems a little off-kilter. Sorry this one didn't work better for you, Lauren.
Oh sorry this wasn't better. I wouldn't like that it relied so much on the physical. Great review!
A little too much physical can be off putting sometimes!! I like a touch of it here and there. I am on Goodreads, too! 🙂

Those time shifts would definitely confuse me.
That sounds really frustrating!
That's too bad. All of the ones I've attempted that were originally serial then put into one felt that bit of disjointedness, too. :/
The gratuitous sex aspect of the book would bother me as well. It sounds like some of that could have easily been cut out and replaced with more meaningful aspects of their relationship. Great review though!
Aw it's too bad that you didn't enjoy it so much. It seemed like it had a lot of potential. Plus, the cover is so cute!
I know how you feel, too many intimate scenes get tiring!
