Sophie and the Swans by Holly Peppe, illustrated by Aeron Cargill
Sophie and the Swans is a really beautiful picture book. Sophie is a young girl who looks over two swans who live on a lake near her house. She has named them Romeo and Juliet and even feeds them swan pellets sometimes. However, a new kid moves to the area and starts bullying the swans, so Sophie runs him off.
This would be a lovely story to share with children as it focuses on treating wildlife with respect, understanding why bullying is wrong and why some people end up becoming bullies, and that you should always be kind – even when others are not kind to you.
The illustrations were really beautiful. You get a lot of details on the characters, even the swans. Please keep reading so you can enter the giveaway!
