While my weather is being very weird lately – going from nice to really cold – it’s still usually cold enough to want a day in just relaxing and not worrying about anything important. As a big reader, this would obviously include lots and lots of books. Before we get there, let us set the scene. I would probably be lounging in bed, with really soft pillows keeping me propped enough, so that I can read more easier. I don’t know about you, but holding up books while lying in bed is quite a workout on the arms, so I’d like to lessen this a bit so I can keep on reading for hours. Next I’ll be snuggled under a variety of blankets to keep me warm and cozy. I tend to sleep with at least three blankets, so I’d probably have about that many for my day in! Then I would definitely have my dog lying next to me add a little extra warmth and love. She loves to cuddle up with people and she’s a big sleeper, so I’m sure she’d be right next to me, dozing away, while I enjoy my day in bed. Now that I’ve set the scene a bit, let us get back to those books!

I’m happy to read almost anything, but if I’m looking for a relaxing day in, I might go with something light or funny. I’ve read one book by Jen Lancaster but I own a few more and this would be the perfect time to dive in. They are real life stories that are sure to make me giggle and pass the time with ease. I could always add in some old favorites too, if I want a break from funny for a bit. Harry Potter is my all-time favorite series, and going through one of those books might be a fun way to pass some time. I doubt I’d get a whole book read in a day, but it would be enjoyable to dive back into Harry and Company’s story. I highly recommend the illustrated version for a day in as well because it adds a little something extra to these classic stories. I’ve read the first one already, so I might have to grab the illustrated Chamber of Secrets. I think a mix of childhood classics and breezy, funny reads would be perfect for a relaxing day in bed.
Despite currently on a diet plan, I’m sure I could still find some yummy goodies to snack on while reading, so I don’t have to get out of bed for long. Some quick ideas would be popcorn or apple slices and peanut butter. They are both relatively light snacks that will keep you going while you rest and read. Sounds like a perfect day! What about you? How would you spend a day lying in bed? Would you break out a book, nap, watch a favorite movie, or do something else? Let me know in the comments!
*I was given the idea for this post by Leesa, an online mattress company – check out their Giving Back page – but all thoughts are my own and I was not compensated for writing. And if youβre on the market for a mattress, you can read about a few kinds here*
I love spending time relaxing and reading, or getting caught up on social media. I don't normally spend all day in bed because I have two little ones that won't allow me to!

Luana is such a cutie! Nothing beats hunkering down in bed for the day with a good book {and a furry friend!}. π
xx
It is wonderful spending the day in bed reading when the weather sucks! You have a nice bedwarmer pictured, lol! I'm also adjusting with lots of pillows so it's not uncomfortable. Nice to hear you had a good time with Harry Potter. π
Bed is my favorite place to be. I could be napping, Netflixing, or reading. You just never know. π
I have a bed that raises up so it is the perfect place for reading. I would love a day in bed with peace and quiet and time to relax and read. I would probably read for awhile and then cross stitch while listening to an audiobook. I would definitley read some of my all time fav go to authors as well. Sounds like the perfect day.
Which is what I did the whole weekend. LOL. π
I never, ever read in bed but if I could switch bed for my favorite comfy chair… count me in! I would looove to have a cozy day at home spent curled up in my chair, surrounded by books and tea and snacks and just while away the hours reading. Heavenly! π
This sounds like a great Idea, but as others have said I don't spend much time in bed. I get restless often even while reading I try to take a break every hour! Awesome Post!

Boy, spending all day in bed with books just sounds heavenly. Your dog is such a cutie!
Your dog is so cute! A day in bed with books sounds lovely π
I am on such a peanut butter and apple slices kick these days. I love them! I want this day you describe. It needs to happen soon I think π
Off topic, but your dog is so adorable!
Ok, seriously… this sounds like the best relaxing day ever! A day in bed with snacks?!! I need to do this!

I wish my dogs would snuggle with me. They like to be on the bed, but they rarely lay directly on me—I love it when they do!

mmm yes to all of this!! Especially on a rainy day like we have today!
Books, snacks and the animals! I need a blanket no matter what the temperature is. Even in 90 summers lol My husband makes fun of me. I'm not even necessarily cold – I just need to be cocooned I guess.
Once or twice a month we do a lazy couch day – we get under blankets and eat chips/dip and binge watch movies or tv shows.

I love reading with Buster. Even though he doesn't always realize his weight and he has a tendency to dig his bony elbows in my ribs π But he's a great snuggle partner when it's cold!
Also I have the same plight when reading–holding the book up always hurts the arms!
XOXO
I think I would definitely read (though I do love a good netfilx binge… and I'm in the middle of Miss Fisher's!) I love a fantasy novel best, but as long as the book was good I could read all day. Have you seen those apple "cookies" on pinterest? It's just apples with nut butter and then you top with a few mini dark chocolate chips, bits of granola, or nuts. So yummy! Plus adds a bit of variance if you get tried of just the apples + pb. π XO – Alexandra

I would totally read in bed! That and watch TV. Snacks and beverages would be a definite too. BTW I recommend those Jen Lancaster books – her earlier ones. They are so funny!
I would love an entire day of reading and relaxing! Oh how I miss those days! I have a 9-month-old, so it's going to be a while before I can enjoy a day like that again. I don't get to read nearly as much as I would like to!!

I would spend the entire day in bed! And popcorn as a snack sounds like a yummy idea! Although I am bad and add butter and would probably get it all over my Kindle screen lol. Now I'll be dreaming of a day like this lol. PS Your dog is so cute! β₯
