The Guncle by Steven Rowley
I finally read The Guncle! This is one of those books I’ve had on my shelves for awhile so I’m glad I finally made time for it.
And by make time, I mean choose it as my choice for a book club I am in. 😆 At any rate, most of the group seemed to like it!
I gave this one 4 ⭐️. It starts a bit slow but then I really became invested in Patrick and his family. This book focuses a lot on loss and grief, and it definitely made me cry.
Also! A sequel was just announced. Who will be reading it? 📖

I have heard so many good things about this one! I need to pick it up and read it. Glad to hear you liked it so much!
This one has been on my TBR for ages – ever since I saw Sam’s (@ WLABB) review. I’ve still yet to read it but I’m so glad to see it was a good one for you.
I enjoyed the Guncle too; it certainly wasn’t the light, quirky read I was expecting but I thought it was so cute
They say never judge a book by its cover, something that obviously applies to this book as looking at the cover I was expecting a funny read only to discover it focuses on loss and grief,
Oh, it made you cry. That sounds like a great book. The ones that give you all the feels.
I just finally read this one late last year and ended up loving it as well. I shed a few tears too, lol.
I have had this book for a couple of years now but still need to read it. I have enjoyed other books by this author so I think that I will like this one too. Glad you enjoyed it.
You know what’s crazy? I haven’t read a single book since my cataract surgery. While I now have vision and could not see ANYTHING from my eyes previously it’s not the same and I definitely need readers to help me see things up close (ie, like books). Having said that, I would love a book like this. Thank you for the recommendation, Lauren!
I need to read this one, too! I did enjoy The Celebrants, so I’m sure I’ll like this one. Like you, I just need to make the time.
This sounds super cute. 🙂
I haven’t read this but it sounds like it’s a good read!

This looks really good! I will have to check it out. Thanks for sharing!
haha, I like to pitch books that I want/plan to read for book club too! We’ll be reading Lady Tan’s Circle of Women for our upcoming one! I haven’t read The Guncle yet but…adding to my list! :]
