Memory Keeping

Alright, I’m back! I’m keeping the other post up, but I’ll include the link up to this post too in case you still want to share a planning/scrapbooking/memory keeping post. As always, thanks to my co-host, Alexandra!

My 2019 Planner

It took me awhile to finally get a 2019 planner. I know, I know, it’s shocking! I went to Michael’s last weekend though and grabbed a Happy Planner. I’ve been using Happy Planners for a few years now and I really do love them, and they aren’t too expensive, so it was a good choice for my 2019 planner.

Unfortunately, there weren’t a ton of options left. I wanted to get the Classic size, but they only had Large. I’m not too upset though – I had a Large last year and it worked fine. Also, it was an undated planner. That means you have to go through and add in all the dates for the months, etc. because it allows you to start the planner whenever you want.

This photo is for my January page. None of these little inserts that start each month are terribly month or season specific because, of course, they don’t know where you’re going to start the months. Some are just designs and others have little sayings like this one: You Got This. My planner came with monthly stickers (two for each month) so that I could put them on the tabs and for the next page, which shows the whole month.

Here is a look at the monthly pages. I use these monthly pages for work/life happenings. I like that it has a Top Events and Notes page over on the left hand side. I’ve already filled out some of the Notes for the first couple months. It’s handy!

These are the weekly pages, which are set up the same as my planner last year. Sometimes there is a quote at the bottom, which is fun. I use these pages for my blog stuff. Obviously there are three little sections for each day, so I could add more information about a life/work event if I needed more room than what the monthly page gave me.

Finally, this is what the start of each month includes. It’s on the left hand side of the monthly insert I talked about above. My planner last year didn’t have a Currently section, and I missed it from 2017, so I’m really happy my 2019 planner has one again. I like to fill these out each month and share on Instagram. This page also includes a place for Notes, Birthdays, a Celebrate This Month area, and even a Remember This section. I like that there are various areas to put down important to-dos so it doesn’t all run together. I like to use my planner as a memory keeping device- I keep all of my old planners to look back on- so it’s nice to have an area to really highlight things I want to remember.

Do you have a 2019 planner yet? What do you think of mine?

  1. It looks like you found a great planner for this year! You can’t beat the Happy Planner for the price. I had one last year but I wanted something with daily pages for this year and got a Day Designer as a Christmas gift. I do really like it!

  2. I like the Happy Planners. My planner this year is pretty simple, but it has what I need, which are monthly calendars and weekly spreads!

  3. yay for a new planner! Planners and Journals are little drops of Joy that fell from heave πŸ™‚ And your new planner is SO PRETTY! Love it! enjoy it Lauren!

  4. Ooooh I wish I would have known about this link up – gonna plan it for next month! I had a Happy Planner previously but found it too cumbersome and I didn’t like having to add in all the dates and stuff! My planner for two years now has been a Fringe planner and I LOVE them.

  5. I love the colors on your planner! Happy Planner is a good name for it!
This is the first year I’ve had a planner with both monthly & weekly spreads. I like it! On the monthly calendar, I jot down general things I have going on – meetings / training / birthdays etc. Then on the weekly part I can record the details like the duration & miles I travelled. It’s basic & to the point and that’s ideal for me.

  6. I just got into using a planner last June when I started my blog. It sure is a necessity. I got a blank Erin Condren large planner with a rainbow cover. I can’t live without it.

  7. I got a Happy Planner this year too. I got one that follows the school year so I can have it align with my son’s schedule. I really like it so far. The pages are easy to navigate, plenty of room to write and I love the positive messages spread throughout. I hope you love yours too!

  8. What a cute little planner. I love filling out my planner for the year πŸ™‚ I enjoy it when the planner is mostly unmarked and gives me room to write and doodle and be creative πŸ™‚

  9. I don’t have a planner for this year yet- guess I’m winging it at the moment haha! Looks like you have a good one though. Happy planning and have a good weekend πŸ™‚

Oooh this is a super cute planner! I love the currently and such page! I will have to remember this for next year. I grabbed a planner that I happened to come across at Walmart and love it. Its funny because Im such tomboy and was looking for a solid black cover and all they had was this loud floral one. It might be the most feminine thing I own, but I really do love it!

  11. I love it! I’ve been thinking of getting a Happy Planner, but my mom actually got me one this year, so maybe the next one. I love that it doesn’t have a start date. Mine actually started in September, so I have all these blank spots in the front now.I’m thinking of just using them for notes or blog post ideas.

  12. Great planner you got there! I love happy planners! I’ve used them in the past for blog stuff but I’m more happy with my current planner though; the always fully booked planner by Little Inklings Design. But for personal use, I still have a Happy Planner, that I love using! It’s a planner I hopefully remain using in the future as well since it’s one of the best planners out there atm in my opinion. Great article!

  13. Oooh! I love this planner! I got one for this year that’s a pretty simple style. It’s a Mary Designs for Blue Sky notebook. It’s very small, about the size of a small 100 page paperback, so it’s perfect to carry around with me daily. One thing I would like to make sure to do this year is add in blogger anniversaries and birthdays so I can keep track! πŸ™‚

  14. Looks like you’re off to a great start with your planner! I like the vertical lay-out like you have. Tried a horizontal lay-out last year and didn’t really like it, so back to the vertical! I got a Recollections planner from Michaels as I’m not a fan of the discs, but do like how they’re customizable. Happy planning!

I love finding a new planner that works for me. I would be lost without my planner, that’s for sure. These are cute and functioning planners you have listed.

  16. I got a free planner from my local bookstore and I’m currently using it as a journal. But I do use the monthly spreads for jotting down my schedule. But for blogging in general, I just stick to google calendar πŸ™‚

  17. I bought one back in November, as usual but already started adding appointments throughout December. Already just having a diary has been godsend. I bought just one of the Typo ones and a few little stickers from Etsy. I can see how addictive it is and how expensive it can be, I’ll be happy if I can stick with it for the majority of the year and maybe try something fancier next year. Looking forward to your journal updates Lauren, you’re always so creative!

  18. Ohhh so pretty! I’ve been looking at Happy Planner, but I just got one from Target this year! It’s rose gold and I love it <3 Might have to do a planner post soon, but I've never done one before lol

I wish I could get on board with the disk system, but I just don’t love it. I am using a bullet journal for the second year now…

  20. I JUST got the happy planner and i love it! I was afraid it would be too big for everyday use, so i just took out half of the year. BINGO…now it’s the perfect size! it’s already working so well for what i need it for!

  21. Your planner looks great! I’ve been wanting to do a post about my journal / planner for a while now. Always nice to see what everyone is using πŸ™‚
