My Month is Booked: Mini Book Reviews

Time for My Month is Booked – now hosted by Farrah at Fairyburger, so link up there. Here are some quick thoughts on books I’ve read recently; all bookshop links are affiliate links.

I Left the House Today! by Cassandra Calin

This book is a collection of first-person comics about life, love, school, and reality quite often failing to live up to expectations.  It’s a quick read and I loved most of the comics included. I think this would actually make a fun gift for college graduates.

By Way of Sorrow by Robyn Gigl

This is the first in a series about a transgender lawyer. It follows Erin everyday, regular life of being a transgender woman, but this particular book is also about her and her law partner taking on a case where a young transgender woman killed a prominent man’s son. The woman is claiming self-dense, but Erin knows that is going to be really tough to prove, but she’s determined to save Sharise. I found this book a bit slow at times because it really goes into detail about the law and court. I think this is probably a plus for a lot of people. All in all, I did like the book and I’d be curious to read book two now that I know Erin better.

Thanks again to Farrah for hosting this link up. I’ll try and share more mini reviews soon!
