New Show: Growing Up Fisher

NBC’s new hit comedy “Growing Up Fisher” airs tonight (3/4)! This new television series is comedic, semi-real, and might resemble an autobiography about your own family. The story follows eleven-year-old, Henry Fisher (Eli Baker), and his atypical family, his parents’ divorce, and the arrival of his blind father’s guide dog, Elvis (Peyton). If a dog named after a musical legend isn’t enough to get you hooked, you can learn more about “Growing Up Fisher” on the NBC website.

I watched the premiere episode of “Growing Up Fisher” last week and thought it was enjoyable. You get a loveable dog, an interesting but still realistic family, and some humor, so I think this show could do good things. It also stars J.K. Simmons as the dad (who is blind), which I think is great because he’s a wonderful actor.

What do you think? Are you (or will you be) watching this show?

  1. Oh, this series sounds fun! I liked Suburgatory so this series might be a hit for me. Thank you for telling us, Lauren! I'll add it to my to-watch list. 🙂

  2. Thank you for finally creating a show like this! I have forever been interested in guide dogs, and find that so many misunderstand their purpose. Maybe this show will shed a little light on being blind / having a guide dog. Very excited for it!!

  3. The concept sounds awesome, but lacrosse seasons starts this week and I feel like if I get addicted to a new show I won't have any time for homework because practice is every day until 5:30 *cries* Glad that you liked it though based on the premiere! 😀

  4. Thanks for the reminder about this show, I would have missed it otherwise! I saw previews for it during the Olympics and thought it looked good, and I do love the lead actor.

  5. NBC comes out with a lot of strange and unusual sitcoms every year and most of them only last a few episodes. We'll see how long this one lasts! I didn't stay up to watch it last night.
