Currently (November 2020): Gifts, Cats, and Instagrammers Wanted!

Linking up with Anne for Currently this month!

I’m writing this on Tuesday evening, Election Night, though my plan is to watch more Christmas movies than anything. I don’t think we’re going to get clear answers in one night, and that’s fine because it means they are counting all the votes. However, it’s a really anxiety-ridden time so I’m doing what I can to stay informed without overdoing things. For now, let’s get to what I’m Currently doing in the following categories-

I call this “Charlie is Chilling.”

Appreciating: My cat, Charlie. Yesterday, November 3, was his Gotcha Day! I’ve had him for a year now and I just don’t know what my life would be like without him. I lost my dog a little over a year ago, and it was so hard not having a pet. With COVID and everything else going on this year – both personal and worldwide – it has been a true blessing to have Charlie in my life.

Ordering: Alllll the Christmas gifts. I mentioned this before, but I’m really trying to be on top of gifts this year, especially since there are expected to be a ton of shipping delays. I have most people’s gifts, so I’m pretty excited about that! I’m still looking for some little things though! If anyone needs gift ideas or help searching, please let me know. I LOVE doing it!

Perfecting: I’m not really sure I’m perfecting anything these days! More like trying to get through with everything going on in the world, and not fall into a pit of anxiety and depression. But on a happier note, I guess you could say that I’m perfecting my reading time. Does that count? I am trying to find more time to just chill with a book. I feel like I haven’t done that as often these last couple of months, and we all know I adore reading. It’s self-care for me.

Planning: All of my Stocking Stuffer gift posts for the month. These are gifts that are smaller, so they make good stocking gifts, but they are also good for little tokens of appreciation – coworkers, friends, etc. One post has already gone live – some nice stocking stuffer ideas for bookworms – and I’ll have plenty more posts throughout the month so please follow along! Reviews, interviews, giveaways! I’ve got it all!

Wearing: A Christmas onesie with Snoopy and Woodstock. It’s very cozy! I got it a couple years ago for a friend’s bachelorette party- we had a onesie party/sleepover since her wedding was in late December!

Instagrammers Wanted!!

Some of you might already be aware, but I am newly working for Dart Frog Books – a subset of Red Clover Digital (I’m working with them too)- and we are looking for Instagram accounts for a database I’m building!

Books: Whether you consider yourself a Bookstagram account or not, if you ever feature books on your account, we would love to have you! This is only open to the U.S. and Canada at the moment, but I’ll update everyone if that changes. By signing up, it just means we have your information if we think a book would be a good fit for you. I’d email and see if you’re interested, and if you are, you get a physical copy of the book in the mail and after you review on Instagram, you get PAID!!! So yes, if you’re interested, please sign up on the Bookstagram Form.

Now, for Red Clover Digital, they are trying to build up databases with Instagram accounts that focus on various topics. Right now, we are doing Fitness; so whether you’re all fitness all the time, or you just feature it here and there, we’d love to have you on board!

Fitness: You can sign up from any country as long as your Instagram is in English. This is a new venture, so they are still building up possible brands and companies that will want to work with us. However, the idea is the same as books. If we work with someone, I’ll email those accounts that might be a good fit for the company or product and see if they are interested in working with us. You can sign up with the Fitness Form if you want to be notified of possible opportunities!

If you have any questions, please let me know! And yes, if you’re in the U.S. and Canada, you can sign up for both databases!!

  1. I love your stocking stuffer post idea! I always think stocking stuffers are some of the most fun to purchase. I am working on Chris’s and Zoe’s stockings right now. I usually share the book I am currently reading in my Instagram stories and I try to share some of Zoe’s on there too. Talking books is one of my favorite things!

  2. It’s so hard losing a pet. Sorry to hear about your dog. My cats bring me a lot of happiness and peace, too. Your kitty is cute!

Good luck with the distractions! I’m trying, too. It’s hard with every thing going on.

  3. Christmas movies on election night was a great idea. I looked at zero news and am glad I did – right now I’m into The Bold Type on Hulu. A good escape. Pets are such good therapy too – nice you have your snuggly Charlie. Hang in there, and fingers crossed…..

  4. Aww Charlie is adorable! I’m also trying to get Christmas shopping done early this year! And how cool about the new book opportunity for IG, I will look into it!

  5. Charlie is a cutie! And good on you for getting Christmas done! I’m that annoying girl that’s out shopping on Christmas Eve. I always tell myself I won’t do that, and yet I still find myself at the mall on Christmas Eve!

  6. Well major props to you for getting so much shopping done! I’m so impressed! I got my Christmas cards ordered today and I thought I was doing well. Haha! Thanks for sharing those opportunities! I don’t share books too much, but I do love to read and the same with fitness!

Awe, happy “Gottcha Day” to your Charlie! What a special time!! You are organized… ordering gifts, planning for all you have going on.

  8. Charlie is an absolute gift isn’t he, precious boy! It’s been four months since we lost our beautiful little furbaby and I still feel it so deeply every day. Congratulations on your new venture with Dart Frog, that’s so exciting Lauren! I’d love to find a remote position and work from home for a little extra spending money, if you hear anything please let me know. I hope you have a wonderful November and I’m so excited for your Christmas posts to start popping up. They’re always a highlight for me and really get me into the Christmas spirit. Something I’m not sure I’ll have this year to be honest.

  9. Oh my gosh….Charlie. What a love. I miss having a cat. My dogs are good and sweet and dear to me. But I think I’m a cat person at heart. The only thing keeping me from bringing home a kitty now is that I vowed our next cat will be 100% indoor. And with three kids, my back door is ALWAYS being left open. So–Kitty is high on our Empty Nest list!!

  10. Charlie looks so cool! 2020 has just been such a long year – I’m so glad that Charlie has brought you joy.
So glad that reading is also helping you during this time. I’m actually re-reading loads of old books and appreciating them all over 🙂

  11. Happy gotcha anniversary to Charlie! My parents inherited a kitten earlier this year from my aunt, and even though they claim they’re only keeping them because my daughter loves him so much, I think they secretly love him! He’s such a funny kitty!

I signed up for the bookstagram database! I have been bad about putting books on mine, but I’ll get it in gear! I used to do reviews for a couple of magazines, and that kind of faded away when I had our daughter, but now that she’s a little older, I want to get back into it! Thanks for sharing the opportunity! =)

1ST , Charlie is adorable and I kind of wish I had started Christmas shopping earlier, but we shall see how things roll out.
