Official Summary: Anna Banana can’t settle down tonight, even though her stuffed animal
friends are tired and just want to sleep. They suffer through delay
after delay and excuse after excuse, until Anna Banana is finally
sleepy. And then . . . it’s time for their revenge! Anna Banana is about
to get a taste of her own medicine.

Review: This is the first picture book published by First Second Books (who do graphic novels) and I have to say it’s quite adorable! Anna loves to read and doesn’t want to stop doing so even though it’s time for bed. However, all her stuffed animals are tired and just want her to turn out the lights and be quiet. By the time Anna is ready for her bed, all her stuffed animals make sure she knows what it’s like to be tired, yet disrupted by noise.

Sleep Tight is a really cute book and it would be an original choice for the little ones in your life who hate bedtime! One of the things that I love about this particular book is that it’s done by a mom and son (mom writes, son draws). It definitely adds a little something extra to the book; makes it more special, if you will.

The story is cute and something to relate too, but the illustrations are also really well done. I loved how each of the stuffed animals were a bit different personality wise and they all had their own, kid-esque names. It was fun to see their various reactions and facial expressions throughout the book. The story might not be that long, but it would be a fun one to go through slowly because of the artwork.

  2. I haven't heard of this one but out of all picture books this one sounds the best! I love the fact that it's done by mom and son and it seems like a great tandem. Great review, Lauren 🙂
