If you want to buy Written in the Stars, feel free to use my affiliate link for Bookshop.org. I really loved this one. I have the companion book already and hope to read it this summer! There are three in the series.
I mostly read the ACOTAR (A Court of Thorns and Roses) series. I started the first book on April 1 and finished the last book on April 30. I was doing a buddy read/chat with some BookTok friends, and I think that really helped me binge this whole series through the month. The series isn’t over, but A Court of Silver Flames is the last book that has been released.
While fantasy isn’t the genre I gravitate toward, I really loved this series. I fell in love with so many of the characters and I can’t wait for more. All the books got at least four stars – though I gave A Court of Mist and Fury and A Court of Silver Flames five stars. I will say that if you aren’t sure about the first book, keep going, because most people seem to love book 2 the most. Also, A Court of Wings and Ruin (book three) is a bit of a slow start but it gets SO GOOD!

And now here are the books that I read/reviewed and haven’t shared in the Show Us Your Books link-up yet:
The Overnight Guest by Heather Gudenkauf
All of the POV’s eventually overlap in the end. I had some guesses as to how certain things connected, and what happened in 2000, but I didn’t get everything right. I love being able to figure out some twists in a mystery, but it’s always nice to have surprises too, and that was The Overnight Guest for me.
Sink or Swim by Annabeth Albert
I really enjoyed Sink or Swim. It was a bit slow to start, but then it picked up more. I appreciated that Calder and Felix had a slow-moving relationship. It’s never mentioned that Calder is demisexual in the book, but that’s the feeling that I got, and while I wish it was named if that’s the case, it’s still nice to see the sexuality “represented” a bit more.
The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley
Before I read this book, my favorite Foley novel was The Guest List…and it’s still The Guest List after reading The Paris Apartment. That’s not to say it’s a bad novel, by any means. It was still full of intriguing, often unlikeable characters, that are hiding a myriad of secrets. However, it was a bit slow in the beginning and it definitely took me longer to get adjusted to the story.

And They Lived… by Steven Salvatore
I really loved this book. It’s classified as YA but it takes place in college and does feature sex, drugs, and language. I would suggest this for older teens and up. I loved the various discussions that Salvatore raises throughout the book – things about sex, gender, body positivity, and more. While I’m not gay, or genderqueer, I am bisexual and demisexual and I have had body image issues most of my life. There was so much I related to when it comes to Chase, and I really loved the journey he went on to start gaining more self-love and self-acceptance.

And that’s it! I’ve been having a pretty good reading year. What about you? Anything you’ve read from my post or want to read?
And They Lived sounds good.
Seeing you talk about the ACOTAR series makes me want to dive back into that world. I still need to read A Court of Silver Flames.
Ooooh!!! Some good ones in here that I’ve never heard about. I’m such a sucker for a good cover and I love the artwork for Written in the Stars. The Overnight Guest sounds intriguing, too! Thanks for taking us on a tour of your bookshelf!
written in the stars has been on my list for ages, i keep getting it from the library and then not reading it in time. i’m hoping to get to it this month, sounds adorable! lol your review of the paris apartment. i did not like it, but i’ve not read her other book. ACOTAR is SO GOOD.
I have seen some mixed reviews for The PAris Apartment for sure. I wrote my review a week or so ago and have to get it posted!
I want to try Gudenkauf as well.
Those ACOTAR books- I love those covers! .
I did not like The Paris Apartment at all.
Loved The Overnight Guest but it creeped me out so badly LOL. Like did not want to be alone at night reading it
Written in the Stars and And They Lived look good.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Foley’s books.
Karen @For What It’s Worth
I enjoyed Written in the Stars but I was definitely in the wrong reading mood when I picked it up. And ACOTAR is a series I hate to love, it’s way over hyped but it’s just so easy to read. I need to do a reread soon of the whole series.
My daughter was just rereading all the ACOTAR and TOG books, novellas and everything. I only them once, but enjoyed the books.
The Paris Apartment is on my Want to Read list, but maybe I should read The Guest List instead. Thanks for sharing!
A few of my friends have read and loved the ACOTAR series and I eventually want to give them a try! I’m just not a big series reader though. I haven’t read any Lucy Foley either but want to.
I read ACOTAR before it first came out, but haven’t read any others in the series. I need to read on. Thanks for sharing all that you’ve been reading!
