11 Favorite Books

My blogoversary month is coming to an end and today, I’m back with my final Top 11 post. This time, I’m sharing my Top 11 Favorite books. This one was really difficult, and there are definitely more books that I would consider favorites, but this is a good start. I’m also doing a fun mermaid themed giveaway below, so read on!
11 Favorite Books for a 11th Blogoversary + Giveaway Prize Packs #ontheblog #giveaway #ontheblog #bookbloggers Click To Tweet
  1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling: I love all the Harry Potter books, but if I had to choose one of them it would always be the third!Β
  2. The Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbosky: I used to re-read this book every single year, and I found myself understanding and relating to more each time. I highly recommend!Β
  3. Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk: This author has some of the craziest books, but Survivor is one I’d recommend to most and I even have an autographed copy (though I’ve never met the author).Β
  4. About a Boy by Nick Hornby: Nick Hornby is a great author, but About a Boy is by far my favorite. The movie is one of my favorite films too!Β
  5. Ballads of Suburbia by Stephanie Kuehnert: This is the second book by this author but it’s by far my favorite. If you love Perks of Being a Wallflower (and even if you don’t or haven’t read it), read this one!Β
  6. Dark Places by Gillian Flynn: Most people equate Flynn with Gone Girl, but I’ve been reading her since her debut and Dark Places (her second novel) is still my favorite.Β
  7. I Am the Cheese by Robert Cormier: This is such an intriguing little novel. It’s categorized as YA, but adults would love it too. It makes you think for sure!Β
  8. Carry the Ocean by Heidi Cullinan: This is an m/m romance with so much heart and emotion. It’s more than just the romance too.Β
  9. Peter Darling by Austin Chant: Peter is really a transgender Wendy, who falls in love with Hook. Um, yes please!Β
  10. The Outsiders by S.E. Hinton: I’ve loved this book (and the movie) since I first read it in the 8th grade. It’s such a beautiful look at friends as family.Β
  11. Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck: I read this book for the first time in the 7th grade because my sister was in 9th grade and was assigned it, so I read it just for fun. It’s one classic that I really love – great character study.Β
Are any of these you favorites? Do you plan to read any of them?

Happy anniversary. Loved reading through your book list. I have read many that you have enjoyed. There are a couple I will have to go and get.

Wow! To blog consistently for 11 years is pretty amazing Lauren, and kudos to you! Of course, I love your blog so much because there are always so many interesting things going on here. I sure wish I could narrow down my all time fave 11 books, but there’s no way!(lol) You’ve listed some great choices! Happy 11 years and hugs…RO

  3. The 3rd Harry Potter is my favorite too. I also really like Of Mice and Men! My daughter just read that one and the Outsiders last year, brings back memories for me! I like the first mermaid prize pack, but both look great!

  4. The top prize pack is so cute, I love that mermaid sign! I also really enjoyed learning what your favorite books were, I know how much you love to read so that had to be so hard to choose! Harry Potter, The Outsiders and Of Mice and Men are classics for sure! Some of these I haven’t heard before so I’ll have to check them out!

  5. Danielle Hammelef

Happy 11 years! I would choose the top package featuring The Mermaid by Christina Henry because this is a must read book for me. Thank you for the chance!

  6. Yay for 11 years- how awesome! I’ve only read the first HP but Azkaban does seem to be a popular choice as a favorite, from what I’ve seen. And I love the Outsiders movie (although I haven’t read the book)!

Gillian Flynn is on my list of authors to try.

  7. I think The Outsiders is the first book I ever really loved. I have such found memories of that one. Thank you so much for the giveaway! I think if I had to choose, I’d go with The Surface Breaks. That cover is amazing. Happy blogiversary!

  8. Jen

Number 11, it’s just so sad. But there are a bunch of others on your list I have never read! Happy Blogiversary. Gosh, could I say any of them would be pretty awesome!

  9. 11 years is just so awesome! I’ve only read a few of the books you mentioned, but I would love to read a few more…especially Dark Places and I am the Cheese. Entered you contest too!

  10. The Prisoner of Azkaban was definitely my favorite of the series too! I also really liked The Outsiders too! (+ if you’ve ever read That Was Then, This is Now by the same author, that was a good one too. <3)

Thanks for the giveaway! I love the second one!

  11. Congrats again for sticking with bloggimg for 11 years, that is crazy commitment! I loved Dark Places too, it’s my favorite Gillian Flynn novel. My favorite harry potter novel is the goblet of fire, but it seems like the prisoner of azkban is a favorite for a lot of readers!

  12. Love seeing your list. I still need to read Gillian Flynn. I read two and loved them: the Heidi Cullihan and John Steinbeck.

Oh, cute prizes. I lean more toward the first one b/c I want to try the Christina Henry book. Thanks for the opportunity.

Wow! Eleven years! Wishing you another bunch of wonderful years of blogging.

  13. Happy blog-aversary!! This is such a great list of favorites too, and there are several I haven’t read. I need to check them out!

  14. The Outsiders brings such a feeling of nostalgia. I remember first reading it in the early 80’s, just before the movie came out. I was sucked right into the world of greasers and Soc’s – and the movie was such a good adaptation

  15. Anna F.

Congratulations on 11 years of your blog Lauren! I really love the 1st prize pack. Continued success and best wishes!

  16. Happy Blogoversary! OMG 11 years that is SOMETHING Lauren! So proud of you! And thank you for the giveaway! Those books are gorgeous. I’m reading the ARC of mermaid now! πŸ™‚ I was so happy to see HP and the Perks on your list! <3<4

  17. John Smith

“Which of these would you like to win? First winner chosen gets first choice!” I would choose the second option, with the book “The Surface Breaks” by Louise O’Neill.

  18. Anneliese

Congratulations on 11 years! Such a long time to be blogging. I also love Of Mice and Men. I’m teaching that book to my seventh grade class this year. I love the first pack with the book sleeve and wooden sign.

  19. Sally Gearhart

Congratulations on 11 years of blogging, that’s really amazing! Both 1 and 2 are great but I’m loving 2 a little bit more. Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts with us!
