{Currently} December 2021

First Wednesday of the month and it’s time for Currently with Anne at In Residence. I actually have two posts going live at the same time, so if you want to win your choice of December book, please go enter my book giveaway!ย

Currently: December 2021

Decorating: the house for Christmas. This is our tree, with the lights off. As you can see, we only have one ornament. LOL We’ll add more, but this is the only picture I had of decorations. My cat, Charlie, loves sleeping underneath it.

Feeling: a mix of things, really. I’m ready for some fun holiday events, but this is also a bit of a depressing time of the year for me. Trying to focus on the positive things!

Sending: Christmas gifts…or I will be this weekend. I’m doing a couple different swaps, and I have some friends who live far away whose gifts I need to get in the mail. This answer could also work for wrapping, since I’m wrapping most of the items I’ll be sending off!

Smelling: candles I guess? Hah We haven’t started any baking yet, so that’s about it for nice smells!

Wrapping: all the Christmas gifts. I have most of my shopping finished, which is a nice feeling. I’m really hoping to avoid any crazy shipping delays so *fingers crossed*

I’m also doing some book gift guides on the blog. Right now I have an Adult Fiction and Nonfiction Book list. What ages and/or genres would you like to see next?

Feel free to answer the prompts in the comments if you don’t have your own Currently post! What are you excited for this December?

  1. I love the kitty sleeping under the tree! How cozy. I think a lot of people would say that this is a depressing time of year for them. I totally understand that and have had my own battle with anxiety in recent months and in the last year and a half. I loved this post! I hope your day goes well and that you’re able to get some things checked off the list of things you want to do over the weekend and next week- with some fun mixed in.

When I had a cat, he was too busy knocking decorations off the tree๐Ÿ˜„, but your cat looks very comfy . Love that ornament too ๐Ÿคฉ Hang in there, we appreciate you and send lots โค of hugs. RO

  3. I haven’t started any holiday baking yet either. way to go on having your shopping done! Mine is mostly done as well. I need to get on the wrapping train. Last year I waited until Christmas Eve. I can’t do that again LOL.

  4. I want to get a tabletop tree this year like that! I feel like it’s much safer than a full, 6-foot one with a toddler in the house.
I’ve been messing around with some fall smells. In an apartment, a little smell can go a long way! I saw they were selling some scented pinecones at Whole Foods and I think that may be a nice way to get a fun sensory experience without having to work too hard!

Our cat used to like sleeping under the tree too. I worked with a lady that a had a cat that slept IN the tree!

I am sorry it’s hard for you. You are definitely not alone there. Christmas is not my favorite time of year and that can be a weird spot with the love of it all by most people. I try to focus on things I like like lights and the candle scents. LOL.

  7. Looks like you’re nice and organised for Christmas! I haven’t done any shopping yet, or put up any decorations, so I really need to hurry up.
And that’s so cute that your cat sleeps under the tree! I’m kind of worried about having a tree this year, as it’s the first since we got our cat, and I’m pretty sure he’ll be climbing all over it and pulling things off!

  8. Aww… what is it with cats sleeping under trees? Ours love it too. ๐Ÿ™‚

Congrats for having your shopping done! I don’t lol. And I love holiday candle smells.

Hope you’re having a good week!

  9. The shipping delays are crazy! I ordered most things so the few delays I have are still ok since everything should get here in time. Yikes! Now to get started on our baking!

  10. The holidays aren’t always easy for people. I have kind of mixed feelings myself. {hugs}

We put our tree up Sunday. We never used to have a tree in FL but it feels right out here. We have minimal ornaments but we buy one new silly or themed ornament each year. And Kai loves to sleep under it too.

I’m mostly done with my shopping except for Kevin and a few GC’s. Hoping to get it all out in the mail next week.

  11. Your thoughts here for “feeling” describe my thoughts/feelings exactly. Totally get that…but also trying to remain hopeful and positive! Here’s to a good month ahead!

  12. Your kitty under the Christmas tree is the best decoration of all! Sorry that the holiday season is a hard time for you, I hope you can find joy in the midst of it.

  13. Love the kitty under the tree! Cute! Sorry this isn’t always the best time of year for you. I don’t have as many gifts to buy this year so I’m going to be sad at not having many gifts under the tree compared to the past years. Oh well. I plan to do some Christmas treats next weekend. I make rum balls from a recipe I got from a friend who worked at the bookstore with me.

  14. That tree is super cute and I love that your cat likes sleeping underneath it!

I’m kinda planning on just treating people to…food…this year. I’ve been pretty uninspired in the gift-giving department. :[

I’m sorry that it’s a harder time for you this time of year :[ sending lots of love!
