First Ten Books I Reviewed On the Blog!

I started my blog in 2007, but it was mostly focused on music that first year, so the first review on here is the only one from 2007. The other nine are my first reviews of 2008, at least on the blog. I believe I had other book reviews on our Myspace page (Ah, Myspace…)
First Ten Books I Reviewed #ontheblog #toptentuesday Share on X

  1. Switching Time: A Doctor’s Harrowing Story of Treating a Woman with 17 Personalities by Richard Baer
  2. Wake by Lisa McMann
  3. The Comeback Season by Jennifer E. Smith
  4. A Really Nice Prom Mess by Brian Sloan
  5. My Life: The Musical by Maryrose Wood
  6. Secrets of My Suburban Life by Lauren Baratz-Logsted
  7. My Pet Virus: The True Story of a Rebel Without a Cure by Shawn Decker
  8. The Boy With Black Eyes by Brian Lucas
  9. Girls in Trucks by Katie Crouch
  10. Becoming Chloe by Catherine Ryan Hyde

What’s the same? I still really love LGBT+ fiction.

What’s different? I don’t read and review YA Contemporary as much as I used to!

How long have you been blogging? Do you remember the earliest books you reviewed on your blog?

  1. I’ve only been blogging sine 2014, but I did remember the first couple I reviewed! It’s so fun looking back and seeing what we used to review and what has hanged vs. what hasn’t.

  2. I have totally been slacking on my YA reading lately here. I am right now reading a romance novel and hoping to get to one of Reese’s Book Club picks that I have had on my list after this one. But still going to have to check out your past recommendations above now and thanks as I can never have enough books on my list to indeed read 🙂

  3. I’ve had my current blog for a couple of years but before that had others which I never reviewed books on (don’t know why).
Such a nice idea to do a post on previous reviews vs present.

Wow 2007? That’s amazing. I’ve only been blogging since 2014, so five years & my first reviews were a weird and eclectic mix, a lot of YA dystopia which I don’t read much of anymore, honestly I’m not sure there’s much of it out there anymore.

  5. This is awesome! Such a fun way to look back! I remember the first book I blogged about was a murder mystery that took place in a mall, ha!

  6. Whoa, you’ve been reviewing awhile now! I saw the book Wake and knew you had to have been at it for a bit now because I remember that being on shelves awhile back lol

  7. I didn’t realize you’d been blogging since 2007-ish! How cool! And I never read YA contemps before I started blogging- I’m so glad I discovered them! 🙂

  8. It’s always fun (and sometimes funny) to go back and look at what you were doing years ago, I do that too sometimes. Although sometimes I cringe at the outfits I posted, since that’s what I mostly shared about when I first started blogging.

  9. Oh gosh, My Space! I thought they were supposed to have been reinventing that after someone bought it out, I think it might have been Justin Timberlake. My first review was back in 2013 and it was Across The Universe. I had to look it up as I had no idea. My reviews have changed a little since then, thanks to brilliant bloggers such as your lovely self Lauren who inspire creativity!

  10. Okay, you have some intriguing titles on there! I was surprised at how little thriller and crime was in my early reviews — or maybe I shouldn’t have been? Tastes do change

  11. What a great topic, it must have been such fun to go back to these early posts. I know I rarely if ever go back and visit mine but am feeling quite inspired to do so.

  12. Ahh you’ve been blogging for so long, that’s amazing. It’s so great to see how the kind of book you’ve reviewed have changed over time 🙂 I think I always reviewed YA contemporary, but now that I’ve been getting more and more into other genres, my reviews are hopefully a tiny little more diversified ahha 🙂
    Lovely post! 🙂

  13. I’m not sure when I wrote my first review, but I cringe to read them, lol! I did read Wake back in the day and loved it. I didn’t love the sequels. 🙂

I started writing some reviews on my personal blog, but eventually I had so many, and I wanted to have a more professional/dedicated/organized book review blog.

  15. That’s two years longer than me! I haven’t been following your blog all these years (but quite a few!) and I love how far you’ve come and it’s been so fun to follow through the years ❤️ Hope you are having a great weekend!
